Cormier went from being a 9:20s guy as a junior to FL champ as a senior. 3 years later, he was out of the sport and in the US Marines.

Great article!
great article. Really teaches you a lot about the more important things in life.
Thanks for posting.
sounds like he is a professional killer and likes his job, good for him. I like the way you avoided that description.
Who?
Just fyi: That isn't Marc Rodrigues in the first photo. Some guy from Texas....

Really brah?
I read this and while I'm glad Cormier is doing well, it just made me think about how ridiculous it is that we tie running to attending college.
It's a meat grinder that chews up so many athletes.

You shouldn't have to ask since it explains in the title of the post that he was the 2004 Foot Locker champion. Basic reading comprehension.

Yes, but since the majority will not go on to Professional running (like other smaller sports), it's still a great way to get a free education if that's what you want.
Great guy. Some of the Arkansas guys would come up to Springfield from Fayetteville to hang out at times, the Bear included. Had no chip on his shoulder about the way things were playing out at Arkansas. As the article alludes to, he was just ready to try new things in life and was content with the successes he had enjoyed while a runner. But he was still a competitive guy and an athlete and we knew he would find success in the Marines. Glad to get an update - thanks.

-it's nice to have someone do the dirty work to maintain your freedom, isn't it? otherwise, you wouldn't have the ability to say stupid $h!t on a random forum under a pseudoname.
I agree. Also, becoming a mercenary for blackwater or whatever? He is literally the face of American coprorate imperialism/militarism.

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
George Orwell
^^^^ This. Very appropriate quote, Monty.
who sleeps peaceably in their beds at night? here's a low estimate for you.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_Iraq_War#Iraqi_civilian_casualtiesThe Iraq Body Count project (IBC project), incorporating subsequent reports, has reported that by the end of the major combat phase up to April 30, 2003, 7,419 civilians had been killed, primarily by U.S. air-and-ground forces.[18][86]It shows a total range of at least 110,591 to 120,816 civilian deaths in the whole conflict as of December 12, 2012.[18][89]

What dirty work that maintain what freedom? You clearly have no clue about the iraq/afghani war.

Please explain exactly how a hired professional "protecting major assets of big-time corporations" is maintaining anybody's freedom? So by your logic a corporation, like a bank, tries to earn as much money as possible because they are doing this for the altruistic purpose of protecting freedom? So the whole 2007-8 financial crisis was just the unfortunate result of banks protecting american's freedom.

Military or hired professional, doesn't really matter. Only thing happening is civilians dying. Nothing done there helps the american people, theire freedom is threatened by corrupt politicians and lobbyists, not brown men.
