nike has NEVER gone after an athlete after testing +, not once. show me proof otherwise and I'll prostrate myself in front of you. It's never happened and never will. however, if they really wanted to, they certainly have the legal muscle to make it happen. fyi, I was on nike payroll and those sorts of disclaimers were never written into my contract, only automatic termination clauses.

But Seppelt didn't really bust the Kenyans. He left too soon.

Seppelt has now busted the Kenyans and the Russians. If the IAAF are serious about controlling doping then both countries should have a 2 year ban from any international competition.
Seppelt now needs to go to Ethiopia and uncover what is going over there as well.
Didn't Shobukhova have better track credentials than P. Radcliffe? And even drugged, she couldn't get close to Radcliffe's WR in the marathon?

The German investigation could have meaning if somehow you could get the athletes to really open up to follow the the trail of the drug suppliers. Busting a few athletes and corrupt officials may make headlines but does nothing to get down to core root of the problem. A opportunity exists to get names of the source and potentially all involved at all levels.
But maybe the rabbit hole just keeps going a little deeper than you are comprehending here; e.g., how would one collar "big pharma" if they were to be part of the problem?

Their PRs are really comparable on the track...I wouldn't necessarily say that Shobukhova is really faster...Maybe by just a bit.
Shobukhova:
800 metres – 2:03.18 (2006)
1500 metres – 4:03.78 (2004)
Mile run – 4:22.14 (2004)
3000 metres – 8:34.85 (2004)
5000 metres – 14:23.75 (2008)
Radcliffe:
800 m 2:05.22
1500 m 4:05.37
1 Mile 4:24.94
3000 m 8:22.20
2 Miles 9:17.4
5000 m 14:29.11
Well, sweeping generalizations could include even the fans as being part of the problem. Even as much as I think this hyped-up beer mile thing is wrong on many levels, will probably still 'lookey-loo' out of curiosity.

"Yulia Stepanova also accused the head of the Russian federation's medical department, Sergei Portugalov, of supplying doping products in exchange for 5 percent of an athlete's earnings, plus bonuses for competition wins. She also said Russian athletes had avoided out-of-competition testing by using false names during foreign training camps."
Shannon Rowbury also an Olympic bronze (after Turkish and Russian cheats DQd). Johnson Montano might even deserve a silver depending on your opinion of Caster Semenya. The Russians have given up competing on a level basis with the Africans. So they cheat with a clear conscience.

Does Alysia Montano stand to inherit two or maybe even three bronze medals. She was 4th in 2011 and 2013 with Savinova in the medals, and was 5th in the Olympics, with Savinova and Poistogova in the medals.

If their athletes test positive, the coaches, agents, sponsors and national federations must have automatic consequences without any requirement to show that they knew, should have known, or participated in the doping.
FMD Roy, you're a hard man. So let me get this straight, if one of my athletes surreptitiously heads down Mexico way and self administers PEDs and gets pinged, me, and anyone associated with him/her, is a goner?
They do something similar to criminals friends, work colleagues, relatives, etc (people they perceive as criminal anyway) in the workers paradise of Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
At least you didn't call for the death sentence:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment_in_North_KoreaSeb Coe's primary opponent to head up the IAAF is a Russian.
It's known as guilty by association.
Ukrainian, there is a difference, especially at the present time.
Money is EVERYTHING to Russians, Africans, and mideasterners.
EVERYTHING.
In the words of your american, no, it isn't everything, IT'S THE ONLY THING.

To paraphrase the great Bill Shankly:
Money is not about life and death, it's more important than that.

Makes you wonder (even more) about Radcliffe, huh.

It's alleged that the Valentin Balakhnichev - the IAAF Treasurer who is the head of the Russian federation as well - was aware of $600,000 bribes paid by Liliya Shobukhova to not test positive.
It isn't just Russia, and I've been saying this same thing all along.
The drug agencies are NOT about making an equitable playing field, but exactly the opposite, holding athletes hostage to arbitrary drug tests (not scientific), controlling who gets to compete and who doesn't, including extorting money from athletes based on threats of suspension. The drug agencies have become all powerful, and even top athletes are not allowed to have fair hearings and trials.
The ONLY solution is to get rid of the drug tests and agencies, let athletes compete on their merits, and put a stop to the elevation of drugs and drug promoters.

I think there has been an underlying agreement with this suspicion.

The fundamentally problem with this, is that it would be a full-on drugged up sport, possibly without restraint for safety's sake. And the lesser-advanced-state countries, like Kenya, would have the advantage over the more-advanced-state countries, like the USA, where a heavier hammer of penalties for illicit drug use, trafficking can be brought to bear on users, and the stigma for drug 'cheating' is more severe.
Now what you may be saying is the latter goes away when it is no longer cheating to use PEDs. But then, would it not athletics become a full-on circus side-show, like body-building?
