Tough to see Stanford winning next year based on talent. They could win if CU has injuries or a bad day.
Stanford loses their #1 and #3 runners. 2 returning CU runners ran well ahead of McGorty today, and Morgan Pearson was in the top 20 last year and sat today. CU will again have 3 runners with top ten potential and 5-6 with top twenty potential next year. That's tough to match up against.
Nope. Not tough to see at all. Fisher and Ostberg both look like guys who could be major factors as frosh. If one of them has a first year like Saarel's (Fisher, if anything, looks to me like a slightly *better* version of Saarel at this point), this team will have four guys with top 10 (certainly top 20) potential, and better depth behind that than it's had in years.
As of this moment, Stanford on paper looks like they're probably very close to CO.
(Same thing I said this past summer, when most of the LRC morons said it was ridiculous. Turned out it was exactly right. If Jim was healthy, it would've been very close today.
Stanford was the only team with a shot to challenge CO this year (before Jim's knee blew out, obviously), and they've got a good shot to challenge next year.)
Too bad we have to wait a year to watch it.
