If you want to see what I am talking about, look at the "How high could NCC place in D1 XC". Some people saying top 5? Absurd stuff. NCC at their best would not be able to sniff the jockstraps of the top 10 Midwest D1 XC teams.
This is an anonymous forum, I like d3 running for a number of reasons, but it seems silly when people say stuff like this about how great d3 is, so I make a comment or two.
Again, even though those people are being too optimistic, they're not saying D3 is as good as D1. They're saying the best D3 team would be on par with a 10-15 place team. It just seems like you've got an axe to grind.
I also ran for a top ten D3 team. We were very clear on how good we were relative to D1, because we'd compete against them a couple times a year. Generally we'd beat a lot of the D1 teams that aren't very good and lose 10-15th at regionals type teams.
