Yes because it exactly makes no sense. Very few or no elite runners have parents that were elite runners so how exactly did they choose their parents well?
Yeah, you're right. Racing horses, racing dogs, etc. aren't like people. Genes make no difference in people . . . duh, yuk, yuk, yuk. Just because your parents weren't elite runners doesn't mean they don't have good running genes. It's what we do with it that matters. Read the parable of the talents in the Bible. Sure, the "talents" are a form of money in the parable, but the same thing applies to other kinds of "talents," as well. Of course, with genetics, there's always a possibility that you may get your great Uncle Eddie's stubby legs and thick bones or your Aunt Ethel's bad feet--it's not ALL about only your parents--but it certainly greatly increases your chances of having good genes if it runs in the family. And with the Dibaba family, it obviously does. Damn, those sisters, cousins, etc. are fast!
