Italian doctors and cheating in endurance sports? The next thing people will tell me that Santa Claus is my dad...
What I like is how that article talks about Jeptoo's on-and-off partner told her she needed to quit that "vice". I often read articles where they talk about dope as if it is just a bad habit, like cocaine or something. It's almost as if they don't understand that Rita Jeptoo wouldn't be the famous 5-time major marathon winner without the dope. They make it sound like she is a 2:18 marathoner with a doping problem. Get real! If it wasn't for the "vice", we wouldn't even know who she was, because she wouldn't have won anything.

Well, maybe they were wanting to drink the kool-aide being willing shared, namely that 'blood doping doesn't help top east-african talent'.

As preposterous as that sounds, think about it. If some 'expert' is repeatedly telling them such a thing, even backing it up with actual measurements on their blood that he helped take, then such 'balderdash' becomes a soothing panacea to remove the guilt and stigma of cheating, because after-all, 'it's not really helping them anyway', so what's the big problem?
Her agent, Federico Rosa, has just done an interview with Competitor:

So she goes to her own Dr., instead of Rosa's, to treat the 'malaria'. So is that the way they would play it if she ever gets caught? They would blame it on a second-rate Dr. who injected her with EPO by mistake? Anyone else find it Interesting that Kimetto also was treated for Malaria, and then a back problem, before his Chicago course record in 2013. And his agent said Kimetto received treatments for his back prior to his WR in Berlin this year (I'll have to find the link). But in the meantime, this source says Kimetto was again "treated for Malaria" before his WR in Berlin:

"Six weeks removed from a bout of malaria, Kimetto broke the course mark Sunday in capturing the Chicago Marathon. "

To clarify this specific point, starting @ 0:47, Kimetto's agent Gerard Van de Veen says Kimetto, after Boston, "got a lot of treatment" for his injury.

There is nothing straight about this interview
First time we heard she had malaria. If someone is suffering malaria symptoms they are not going to be winning a marathon close enough to the treatment
Then all that stuff about not worth having a B test because they don't differ. Ever heard of Marion Jones or Lagat! Wether they were using or not is irrelevant they got off on the B test. He knows it will come back positive as he knew she was on EPO before she was busted
Malaria is a very serious malady, and is still quite prevalent in Kenya. But maybe it is not strange to get Malaria and six weeks later run a World Class time in a foot race? Here is another of these 'oddities, Geoffrey Mutai (same training camp as Kimetto and Kipsang) "recently had malaria" prior to running the Kenya Police Cross Country Championships in January 2014.

Another one covering his ass
Okay, per the links I posted above, evidently Kimetto recovers from malaria six weeks before his Chicago course record last year.
Kimetto's agent says Kimetto received treatment for his injured hamstring after Boston. In July, Kimetto tells his agent he wants to do something special in Berlin. His agent says staying healthy was key. And yet, this article says Kimetto had malaria shortly before the Berlin WR??:

The interview fails to ask about whether Dr. Rosa had a past with PEDs in cycling?

Any sources/links to support that?
I do recall reading these things and thinking of the stories of the Finnish runners from years ago. I had forgotten about it. What is the treatment for malaria? I know people who had it and they have been out for weeks but I am not sure of the meds involved. I wonder how much training they missed.
When Kenyans use the term malaria it is a broad term for sickness. It doesn't mean they actually had malaria.

yes i noticed this myself recently and was curious about the malaria prior to the world record performance
there were similar suspicions surrounding chris froome and his bilharzia blood disease before he suddenly became the worlds's greatest cyclist
this malaria wouldn't happen to conveniently alter the blood values thereby rendering the biological passport temporarily void?
Hopefully there is an innocent explanation for all this business
Don't expect any big names to take a hit on this
The way doping works is that the athletes are referred on to somebody else anyhow ,a second rate doping doctor or whoever with a clear disconnect
That way there's no smoking gun leading back up the food chain to the bosses
Right you are. For $1500 (a year salary in Kenya) you can get anyone to do anything. For $10,000 people will be lining up to be the fall guy.
