YOU'RE MY HERO MR WEBB
I'm watching it now. Simply Amazing. I like how the pacers took the first 200m out slow.
Alan Webb was one of the all-time greats. Too bad he couldn't put it all together at the right time because he deserved an Olympic medal. I always cheered for him, though, and I have major respect for the fastest U.S. miler of all time. He once ran the mile the way nearly the entire world could only dream about. Best of luck to him in the triathlon.

Alan, thank you for everything you've done for the sport.

otherwise its a good cause.
i think, in general, big so-called stars do too little for the poor.
like shaq and koby and hocky playes n stuff they cud do more in terms of there financial capactiy. just my two cents.
i am just an urchin livin under the street.
TAKE ME DOWN TO THE PARADISE CITY - come on, everybody sing with me!!
Wow, the shoes have made it to $560.
It appears that somebody put up quite a high autobid ceiling, since another user unsuccessfully tried to top it 4 times

Post of the thread so far, lol.
Okay, we should a pool here, closest guess to the final amount gets to donate $10. to Alan's charity of choice.
All guessers not the closest, honor system agree to donate $20. or more to said charity.
I'm in. Who else is in?
Alan... been watching your tri career as of late.. first off, great work learning how to run all over as a tri runner. it is a very different animal and you are already putting up some wicked splits. korea was particularly phenomenal. you were in the mix, and racing up front.
I listened to your babbitville podcast recently and can totally relate as a former pro and national tri champ for the ducks ages ago.. you talked about training for 3 sports and cumulatively, the fatigue from 3 sports making it hard to nail into one... the swim especially kills you in training... doing long, lactate sets which you can feel course through your body even at rest. and in races the swimming fatigue muscularly and lactate acid wise is a beast to shake off on the run in a tri race. kudos for sticking it out at a very high level.
I am excited for your winter base in AZ and what comes of being around the guys... Really hope USAT will fast track you into some WTS races if its possible. I know chicago will get more spots for yanks... so you're probably in there..
If it's possible... you should race WTS yokohama. flat, fast, almost always comes together on the bike. I have watched the race for 3 years and your swim is high enough to where you would not be time trialing off the back to bridge up. you would easily be in a large 2nd group that would bridge up by the last laps... can sit on no problem in that big group. then a crazy fast road race..
USAT has got to be considering a fast-track status for you for WTS entries based on your progression.. maybe your rank isn't high enough yet.. in any case, would suit you very well and its a fun course. great venue... hope to see you there!
$609 with a full day left! $800 would be sweet to see.
I will double the highest bid. It would be an honor fart in your shoes sir.
Hingle: You're one weird dude.
Alan: Thanks for all the years of inspiration.
I know the brojos enjoy a good April fools joke, but this is a bit too contrived.
hi.
I've posted in the same thread as the one and only Alan.
2 mins left. $609. Any last minute bids? Who is the winner? What was your ceiling?
Shame the $609 never increased. I thought for sure someone would swoop in at the end with a few extra bids. Regardless, the kicks still got a good auction price and show Alan is still adored all these years after his peak running times. Nice work, Alan and good luck with the tri!
