Is there a practical reason why guys wear half-tights under spilt shorts? It doesn’t look good. I just always assumed they were embarrassed to have their thighs showing.
Also, running in tights with a t shirt or no shirt. If it’s cool enough for full length tights, how can it also be warm enough for a t shirt?
God I hate posting in a 5-year-old thread, but here we are. For some reason, some running brands now have a "modular" short system. The first time I saw this was from Salomon elite/sponsored stuff a few years ago, later sold as the S/LAB modular split short, where the shorts and inner lining are sold separately and are unattached so you can mix and match them to your liking at various lengths. In 2018, Nike came out with a similar elite/sponsored modular short ... I believe a version of the shorts (outer) may have been later available to the public as part of a special edition of one of their "top-of-the-line" aeroswift collection. I didn't like the Salomon offering as (1) they wore out really quickly (the salomon sponsored stuff tends to do this anyways) and (2) the fit of the inner (I had the boxer version) was weirdly tight, but not in any of the right places to actually be supportive and (3) no matter what size i got, the outer seemed to slip down around my hips and pulled down if they got wet / very sweaty. Would not recommend. The Nike modular has been much better despite the short having a bit of a looser puffy appearance on the outside. I run in these pretty often when it's hot out.
A lot of guys here in Japan (even a majority), including some elites (during training runs), layer up with splits over half tights. I don't know the reason for this, but I think it's a modesty thing (tights are more comfy / supportive, but don't want their wang outline just out there), or maybe they just want a ton of support?
I'm gonna go ahead and agree that full-length tights and a t-shirt/singlet/no shirt is weird.
