If he can keep this pace, it will be the fastest time of a German since 1990.
How close was Kigen to that curb???
I was enjoying the focus on the German girl in the two-piece.

At least they have decent weather today, cool temps and almost no wind.
THE PACEMAKER MAKES A BREAK FOR IT!
Ethiopians maaan, they never share the lead!! No guts to push the pace and always relying on somebody else to do it!
Kudos to the I8 driver for not getting loose in the corners at such breakneck pace
Arrrrgh. Let's up. They're all back together now. Ethiopian dude moves to the front and pushes the pace shadowed by three Kenyans. The pacer is done.
Which one is the pacemaker?

The little dude Korir with a duller-looking yellow.
Kigen's grimace looks like a smile. Ethio Zawude looks the most relaxed to me.
Zawude dropped. It's down to Kigen vs Yegon.
Okay,
Let's go to the German guy.
It was Mike Kigen vs Gilbert Yegon but Mark Kiptoo has come back at them and it's gonna be a three man sprint.
Serene looking Mark Kiptoo in 2:06:48 from Mike Kigen with Gilbert Yegon settling for third. They paid, alright.
German guy finishes ninth in about 2:09:30. Seems very pleased.
Kebede on her own for the women. Melkamu's reportedly dropped out. Cherop a distant second.

German all-time list:
1. 2:08:47 Jörg Peter, 14.02.88, Tokio
2. 2:09:03 Michael Heilmann, 14.04.85, Hiroshima
3. 2:09:23 Christoph Herle, 21.04.85, London
4. 2:09:32 Arne Gabius, 26.10.04, Frankfurt
5. 2:09:45 Stephan Freigang, 30.09.90, Berlin
6. 2:09:55 Waldemar Cierpinski, 31.07.76, Montreal
These guys ar not serious. Too much focus on the Germans at the expense of everything else.
