so there's a second break happening and we're watching footage of last year's race?
because last year they were showing showing the weather so we get to catch up now.

It is unfortunate Kipchoge's great shape was ignored by the organizers' obsession with setting this race for Bekele. Kipchoge was at worst in 2:03:30 shape but the pacing which wasn't set to target that kind of time killed his ambitions. Anyway, I hope he will be emboldened by the fact that Bekele could not handle even such a slow pace.

Cut to commercial once again with less than 10 minutes to go.... thanks nbc
A commercial with the bank dude telling us soon 30k of the runners will be waddling for charity.
All right. Chip - ko - jee has taken off. But how is the weather at the finish line? Will he sweat? So many questions remain...
Wow. Kipchoge now way in front.
I looked down for a few seconds and he was way in front.
Phil Hersh called it the Roosevelt Rise, it's a 20 foot rise, and where Wanjiru made his move.
1:58:28 for mile 25 (4:33 mile!)
1:59:31 with a mile to go
"We just saw him demolish the competition within ten strides."
Really, did we? I sure as hell didn't, did anyone?
Why the hell are they showing the 40k split when he's on the last mile? horrible

lol so we missed the 2nd break... thanks NBC you dicks
That's not unusual. Every single marathon telecast in the US finds a way to miss the break. Always. That's a given.
I'll read the post race report.
WTF!
Did I just see Kipchoge sweat?
How come he never smiles?
Would be great to see Kipchoge get the world record someday, or an Olympic gold finally

just how many elvis impersonators will there be? maybe they could catch the back of the 20th place chair athlete as she heads home.

You could stream it live, insert a few 30 sec commercials and make some money off it, and it would still be 10x more interesting than NBCs coverage. Just...don't charge money for it.
Wild idea (far future, I know). Use a drone with high res camera and strong mic to get the "sound of the runners".
One of the best things about a race is to hear the feet, the breathing, and fans as the runners go by. Get the drone to cover the whole thing.

but will we at least get an update from mile 1. The suspense is killing me.

Eliud Kipchoge (pronounced correctly!)... of Ethiopia! (so close)
Because to him there are Ethiopians who're that dark in complexion
I'd like to see a replay of him pulling away as I didn't see it and I have a screen. The other guys are now being shown.
Chumba and Kitwara are together. About 10 seconds back.
He's going to be really close
2:04:15 is worth $75000
sub 2:05 $55,000
The rabbit 51 is always in the race!
awesome he broke them
