Hate to agree but yeah seems possible that the girl just basically gave you a more elaborate "I'd love to but I'm washing my hair Saturday Night"

Call her bluff and offer to do the course with her next month

I've always dreamed of making my final mile on Boylston St. in the Boston Marathon, and croak right before the finish line. And, for years, people would curse me because they were diverted on their way to a p.r. and just miss it! Ahhh yes. That would be something!
