Lydiard is never 'flavour of the week'. He is an enduring presence that informs a lot of what is still done today.

Do we really have to catalogue all runners with equal class, running less than 170?

Pretty surprising quote from Goucher if you ask us. Isn't Wetmore's reputation one of being a Lydiard guy?

Mark and Heather don't believe in high mileage. They're more controlled and want me to come off workouts a little better and snappier on my easy runs," Goucher said. "It's exactly what I need at this point in my career."
Goucher also reveals she's not in great shape and 2:26-29 will be good for her NYC.

I predict a big first 12-18 months for Kara (prob after her 1st 26.2).
Reason being is she'll still reap the benefits of Jerry's high mileage, but will now parlay it with a new training benefit.

I predict that one day, someone will open up yourself and find nothing inside except stale air.
Reason being is that you would need a helicopter to reach the lowest level of what most people regard as utterly senseless.
Goucher stopped training under Schumacher almost a year ago.
As for "parlay it with a new benefit," this is the kind of word salad you've been tossing around here for some time.
Agreed. ttc is pretty dumb and probably doesn't even run. I seriously get a chuckle out of his desperation to come out with something different to sound smart and unique. Goucher isn't parlaying anything. She's running NYC and will get in the best shape that she can to not embarrass herself. She's running NYC for money, aka Oiselle exposure. She'll be anywhere and everywhere wearing everything Oiselle. 99% sure that running a fall marathon, at any pace, was part of the Oiselle deal for 2014. Exposure...marketing...exposure...marketing...to the nth degree. She will be at every speaking event possible and wearing Oiselle while talking about the company over and over and over. Wait for it...

Letsrun, where lifetime miles count but last years miles don't.
The biggest concern I would have if I was Kara is that Mark Wetmore has little to no experience coaching the marathon at a world class level. The knowledge level and frame of reference is simply likely not there (understandably) as they have not been focused on that event.
Further, knowing Wetmore's style of coaching, he relies much more heavily on experience and having seen what worked with athletes he has coached over the year, than he does on a deep understanding of the physiology and science of the sport. Hey, it seems to work great for him. But I think that means he is thus less likely to be successful early on when coaching a new event, he doesn't have that coaching experience to rely on. The marathon is 4x longer than any event he is use to coaching, and a dramatically different animal with significantly different energy system demands and limiting factors.
I hope for Kara's sake it works out well, and it sounds like she enjoys working with them them and is in a good place mentally in Boulder. But given she is towards the end of her career, I am not sure she has the time to invest for Wetmore to figure out the marathon. Here's to hoping that his initial instincts are on the money. We'll know soon.

Predictably, you missed the point. Think for yourself and speak for yourself, not the Letsrun forum, unless you are too dense to think for yourself.
Uh... isn't it rather obvious from my HN that the most was meant to be... well, never mind. ;)

Uh...then why post your dribble? Don't you have better things to do than comment with such nonsense....yeah, never mind;)

There is no point. Try to keep up.
