Diversity training,
Hmm. Initially Ghetto wasn't a category here - I think j squire added it later. Certainly if only considering Blue Collar, White Trash or Yuppie, Cognac is Yuppie. Charles Emerson Winchester III used to drink it, and lots of yuppie and priviledged people drink Cognac. I would say though that it could ALSO be ghetto. Lots of things are yuppie and ghetto, because a lot of times, the ghetto dwellers are trying to live a priviledged life. This is why you see lots of young poor urbanites (mostly black, but not always) driving around in Mercedes when they really should NOT be (because they don't have the income, not because of their skin color). They put every spare dime they have and then some into being able to drive a car like that. So, currently a Mercedes Benz is both yuppie and ghetto. I suspect the same is true with Cognac.
"To me a yuppie RUNNER and a blue collar RUNNER is not defined by how you earn a living. It has more to do with your approach to running."
? – The very definition of a “yuppie” is an affluent, well educated individual living near or in a large city – a social climber. It has everything to do with how much money you have/make, your job, what clubs you belong, car you drive, etc. I am sure it could be viewed as approach, but it is really a division among classes or more importantly, one that wants to be divided – they want to be a member of the ‘haves,’ not the ‘have-nots.’ Calling someone a yuppie or blue collar is a generalization!

Flagpole, cognac is about as "priviledged" as Vanilla Ice is ghetto.
The cognac market has been black for just about ever. It is not "yuppie," except when white kids from Connecticut try to "get real."

Here's one yuppie telling you how it is.
I live in the Bay Area, grew up in LA. Wear tights when its cold. Sometimes wear a HRM. Cytomax during, endurox after. Synthetic socks and gloves. Love good beer and great wine. Make some money road racing. Like new Nike spikes. Dodger fan, Laker fan. Voting for Kerry. Educated. Urban. Semi-professional. Coached by Jack Daniels. And I'm writing this in Paris.
But I'll still kick your ass!
Bill Cherrie, group director for Cognac at Pernod Ricard U.S.A, says that blacks are "13 percent of the US population, yet are 60 to 70% of the cognac drinkers." Do you think that yuppie white folks make up the other 30% of that market? Not by a long shot. Hispanics, naturally, are the next biggest market of cognac drinkers.
Crawl back in your yuppie cubicle, FW, you don't no squat about the ghetto.
Peter Gilmore, if you had a real coach you have some real creds, you poser. Post when you've actually done something.
