He has been doing a good job of avoiding him, dodging him etc. But father time finally sneaked up on him and grabbed him by the shoulder. They are hanging out in Lagat's backyard flipping burgers for labor day.
Have you noticed how you never see Bernard Lagat and Barack Obama in the Oval Office at the same time?

http://www.istaf.de/en/0/starterliste.html#5000_m_MenHe was waiting for a fast 5000 where he wouldn't have to face Rupp.
But he has to face 800+ all-around GOAT Augustine Choge!
The really good news is that his birthyear is listed as 1978.
Getting four years younger should help extend his career.

Yes, he is ducking Rupp, a man he has raced 22 times, and hasz a record of 20-2 against.
I guess Lagat figures if he loses a 3rd race to Rupp it will ruin everything he has ever done in his career, even though at age 39 anything Lagat does should be ining on the cake of his career.
I am being sarcastic.
His testosterone ratio indicates he is 24.
Lagat will run about a 3:53 mile as a master next winter, which should put that record out of range for quite awhile. That'll be about it. He is slowing down now
