I'm just learning in this thread that Rupp doesn't have much money. Maybe he should take a job as pacesetter in a 1500M race.
Rupp seems to make okay money--enough to have non-working wife, and take on two little kids. But, he certainly does not make enough to pay for personal pacesetters. Rupp decided not to pay tuition to finish his degree at UofO. Tuition is not cheap when you have to pay for entirely on your own. That should give Rupp's younger fans some idea that winning an Olympic medal does not make you filthy rich.
Rupp set AR's at 2M and 5000 indoors this year and 10,000 outdoors going under 27:00. I'm sure his base contract is over $250,000, maybe half a million now after his silver medal. His bonuses alone may be in the $20K - 50K range so far this year. That's not including whatever he gets for the underwater treadmill endorsements any anything else. I highly doubt Rupp would need to pay a rabbit, because he can probably just ask Nike to. But if he personally had to, he can offer, say $2,500 for the pacing duty and an extra $5,000 if the duty results in an AR. I'm sure his bonus for breaking the outdoor $5000 is plenty more than $7,500 so not only do you net $, you PB and get a very elusive AR. Again, this is all fantasy because NOP/Nike would like to see it almost as much as Rupp.
