There was a guitarist (name was Will Lee or something like that) in the house band for David Letterman (when his show was on NBC) who ran the NY Marathon several times.
Oprah ran the Marine Corps marathon one year.

Oprah. gimme a break. She ran the year I was there. She had bodyguards all around her. Her "coach" stayed with her the whole race and got her the water, special mixes, drinks etc. She ran a 4:45. Pouring rain. What a pain in the a$$ having her there. Several people like Will Ferrell ran Boston and never told anyone. She made it all about her, not the race.
I know I've posted this on the message board before, but multi-time Oscar winner for best actor, Mr. Daniel Day-Lewis is a strong and avid runner.
Back in 2004, while on vacation in Ireland, I ran the Rockford Rooftile 4-mile race in the town of Tinryland, just outside of Dublin. I averaged 5:32/mile for the race and only finished 27 seconds in front of him.
I had the unbelievable fortunate opportunity to sit and chat with him for about 1/2 hour after the race, talking about Ireland, running, etc. He told me he belonged to a running club over there and traveled to races with him club mates whenever his scheduled allowed.
That was one of the most memorable experiences of my "running" life!
alice cooper was on a state champ xc team in new mexico.
the author of the notebook, nicholas sparks, was a way solid 800 runner at notre dame. theres an interview on flotrack with the author somewhere, and at that time, he was still a part of their school record 4x800.

Is it too off topic to say that June Lockhart was a babe?
Gimme a break. You really think actors and musicians are socially adept? The exact opposite is true.
To the extent that a studio musician can be famous, Nolan Shaheed (ne Nolan Smith).

The late actor Roscoe Brown was NCAA Champion in the 600 yds
Kirk Cameron ran 4:30.1 in HS. For a mile, not a 1600. I was in the race, right on his tail the whole time.
Cool. I had no idea. He was a terrific actor, with an amazing voice. According to Wikipedia, he was also AAU indoor 1000-yard champion.
Famous actor who was also a member of the 440-yard relay team that set a world record in 1967:
Brad Pitt and Rick Schroder both ran around 1:55 for 800m. You can watch them do it in the movie "Across the Tracks" :) Good stuff!

Michael Landon was a hs javelin champ and USC athlete before going to Teenage Werewolf.
Did a famous female runner from Wisconsin, Suzy, become a porn star?
The guy who played Jarjar Binks was a good high jumper in nj high school.
Jennifer Lopez ran track....
Danny Devito ran hurdles in NJ..just kidding...
Woody Allen was good at track and baseball. Yes it's true. I don't know his event, sprints maybe. Born in 1935.
I can tell you there are several jazz musicians who are better than you might expect based on stereotypes about us - although only one I know of who comes close to sub-elite. Many of these folks never competed in school, so these are times while they were working professional musicians: bassist Calvin Hill (2:42 marathon), saxophonist Eric Alexander (a bit under 3 hours), drummer Jon Hazilla (2:38 marathon), drummer John Riley (can't remember his best, but he was good, and also an excellent cyclist). I've played with all of them except for Eric and, while I never ran in school and never got it right for the marathon (some 2:48's), I did a 15:51 5k in my 30's, 4:38 mile, ironman triathlon. A former student of mine, drummer Terry Moore, was running sub-3 marathons while in college, and did a solid Ironman Arizona time as a senior (he's young enough he has potential to get much better).
But, the only jazz musician I know of who is at all near elite level is one I've never met or played with, who was mentioned in this thread - an excellent age-group runner, Nolan Shaheed.
There was a thread a few years ago about Eminem running a 1:54 in high school.
