Nice work Rojo and Letsrun staff on that Commonwealth Games athletics schedule. Thanks for all that - the CG website is so clunky to use.

Willis not so spicy.
Great run from Caleb.
what drama for the Robertson brothers. ONe twin gets a medal. The other taken out with a fall.
Ndiku did an awesome dane afterwards.
Ahmead was awesome. In top 5 at bell and finish.
Willis lost ground when RObertson fell but there were two + laps to go.
The atmosphere in the stadium is unreal.
rojo did either you or wejo run alongside the marathon earlier today with a cap on?

I'm glad you appreciated. I had no idea what times stuff was as it was impossible to get a complete schedule of just athletics.
I almost missed the 5k as a result.
Here are the results. The Siosi guy in last ran another lap to a huge roard and finished just under 17:00 so I'm not sure if the time below is accurate.
Great race for Zane Robertson. His strategy was perfect. Sad day for Willis. After his countrymen fell he was already out of contention and with 3 laps to go, he looked -strangely- out of shape.
Wow Birmingham 12th, so Rupp would be no better than 13th in this competition!
Is Willis entered in the 1500?
Thanks for the play by play!
A lot of runners in there familiar to us>that is still the same Moses Kipsiro that took 3rd at World's in 2007 just ahead of Teg?
Of interest to me was the fact that there were two Malawians running in the race. Malawi is a tiny country surrounded by Tanzania, Mozambique, and Zambia with a fair amount of altitude and virtually no running development where they will usually have a couple Olympians allowed in with no qualifying time--but nice to go from a 14:58 pr to 14:11 in a championship race for Chauncy Master. That pretty much indicates how little raced and probably little trained Malawians typically are. He is 5'3" 119 and from Mulanje, which is at some altitude and at the base of a mountain that goes to 10000 ft. The other guy came from Uganda, Kefasi Chitsala--he ran 14:26 and is listed as 20 years old. There is a marathon held in Malawi every year on dirt at Kamuzu Academy, an elite prep school with expat teachers modelled on Eton. I brought my students there to race a couple times (I was injured then and they trained completely independently and I have no idea how they were training) where they ran 2:37 and 2:42 barefooted with no fluids on the course.
Great run!
Ndiku had some more in store. Koech did the donkey work, ran great. I don't know this Kitur guy but he seems good.
Robertsons brothers seem to have eaten a lot of ugali.
You can NEVER go wrong with ugali. Ha ha ha!!!
Great run for both.
Willis is old. That's all I'll say about him.
Kipsiro is an embarrassment.
Ndiku needs to stop that Yohan Blake nonsense. I can't believe he would even think of doing it let alone do it. Arrgghh!!!!
Nice.
I don't know much about Malawi and Lilongwe and Blantyre but you captured it man. Great read.

Willis has clearly been peaking for the 1500m. That's all I'll say about him.

Good post, but FTFY about Willis. Typically you would expect older runners to be better at the longer events, but Willis has again set 1500m PB's this season. I also don't know what's happened to Kipsiro, perhaps some of his big efforts during the days of the Bekele era have caught up to him now.
Ndiku seems like he can be a serious threat to Alameriw, Farah, Rupp and co. in the 5000m next season.
Last 1600 was 4:02.94 leader to leader
64.97
63.51
60.35
54.11

It's called giving everything you've got....and some (a little) more. Photo 1.
I truly wish the Ethiopian trio of Alamirew, Gebrhiwet and either Idris or Gebremeskel were there as well as Farah and Rupp.
That could have been quite a race. I doubt that Ndiku was too worried about losign the gold without these five athletes.

Old man Willis just ran 3:29 for 1500m.
##1photo Caleb is both a personality and a big threat in the 5k, more than in the 1500m. In the 1500m he would always finish upper-mid pack in the DL because he couldn't make that surge from 650m-850m after a first lap in the 53.-56. range. However, the 1500m gave him enough surge power to go from 7th-12th to in the top 3 after about 3600m and then make a break for it with 600m to go.
