Hey, thanks for adding the results. I am a little confused as to why 'Discus' was changed to 'Discuss', however.

Does anyone have any splits on the 3k? Sure started out at a pedestrian pace. I'm curious what Cain's last lap was
Tupac predicted 2 things in one song.
Brilliant job by Cain.
Major kudos!

cheater how? can you explain for those who didn't see the race?
The Kenyans had her boxed in nearly perfectly on the rail but a small gap opened. Cain started to try and go through when the girl that had dropped a bit came back to close the gap and threw a couple jabs at Cain with the left elbow.
In most races I've been in this isn't a big deal, but because it's Cain (NOP, Nike) people are having a bit of fun with it. I'm assuming there isn't any need to tell the Grunewald story for the billionth time.
But here I actually do think there is grounds for a legitimate DQ. Clearly impeded Cain's progress and definitely wasn't sportsmanlike. We'll see if they do anything about it.
I didn't see any cheating. I know some are accusing the Kenyans of teamwork, as if it was a pro race, but I think they overestimate the amount of strategy these particular runners were capable of. They didn't seem particularly seasoned to me It was a pretty ragged race--there were a lot of inexperienced runner stuff, with weaving in and out, and unexplained "surges" that then died before reaching the front. Cain, I must admit, didn't run the best race tactically herself. But when you have that kind of finishing speed, it makes up for a lot of mistakes!

(Splits from Flotrack twitter account)
3:03 at 1k
6:07 at 2k (3:04 second kilometer)
7:55 at the bell
Cain was a couple meters back so 62ish for her last 400 and about 2:14 for her last 800
On an unrelated note, does anyone have any idea what happened to that Polish girl that was meant to challenge Mary? Ennaoui or something of the sort? DNF'd it looks like
Was this jogfest even the American Jnr Record?
Cain was trying to squeeze through on the inside, which is fine if the first girl leaves it open. But then she never quite got up even with her and the lead girl stepped back in. Wasn't that the Kenyan girl's right to move back towards the rail as they approached the curve if she still had a step on Cain?
Slightly provocative question: Seriously though - this may be the only time in any significant international competition that two Kenyans flanked an American on the awards stand and had to endure the Star Spangled Banner?

It's definitely not her right to go exactly back to where she was. She saw Cain trying to go through and tried to keep the box closed by moving back up and running on Cain's heels.
Even if you argue that should have been legal, the elbows she threw alone are DQ-worthy by the book.

Hey Japanese boy,
This Kenyan boy is wondering about this;
Isn't a cheetah an animal?
Mary CAin is very strong. I think it was a good race by her.

I have to say it seemed like a really nice gesture for Cain to take Jenks with her on the victory lap.
I thought it was weird. Jenks wasn't even top 9.
I think the record still belongs to Ceci.
Zola has the WJR.

Not quite
8:57.27 Ceci Hopp,Stanford Univ. Durham, NC 1982-Jul-27
Cain missed it by 1.21s
She still has another year of Junior status so you figure she'll get it next year if she runs enough 3k's
Oddly enough the USATF lists the American Junior Record over 1500m as Suzy Hamilton's 4:09 from 1987, though Cain and Efraimson have both been under that mark. Doesn't show a new mark as pending either, as it does for other records.
Don't mean to go off on a tangent about an unrelated topic, but does anyone why this might be?
OH BURN!!!!! this is funny.

Nothing unreal. 62.93 I believe. 755.55 for leader at bell??
Well out in our recap.
Nothing unreal, sure, but that's because the last 400m split isn't all that relevant in a race like this where the windup from 400m out was pedestrian enough the eventual winner was could wait till the final 200m to put down the hammer. Anybody have Cain's final 200m? Or better yet final 150m, since she wasn't out of the box with full afterburners on till somewhere between 150m and 200m to go.
Fantastic!
Alexa will win this event in 2016.

Good question. Did Mary get the HS record for the 3,000M for this race?
