Hasay has the slowest PR of the field in the 5000m by 16 seconds. She should not even be in this field.
You are an idiot. That is like saying Emma Couburn shouldn't be allowed in a 15k because her PR is in the 16s. Hasay's PR is nowhere near her 10k mark.
Jordan Hasay's 31:39 is worth about a 15:14, and her recent 15:28 PR came one hour after running a 4:10 1500m. Not only that, in the US national championships she closed her 10k with a 15:35 last 5k split in miserable heat.
To say Hasay is in anything less than 15:14 shape is absolutely moronic! You are obviously a troll and I bit, so 10/10 for you sir.
These meets are here to make money. Meet promoters have entries per event they can give out as they see fit.
You have a problem with it put on your own track meet.
This isn't any different than golf for example , the main sponsor/promoter have discretionary invites they can give to whomever they want
1) she is clearly better than her 5k pr
2) she has a good sponsor
Not a good look for Nike.
I don't think anyone is saying that the meet doesn't have the right to pick who runs their race. I don't think anyone is pretending that life is fair or that Jordan shouldn't make the most of the resources available to her (agent, NOP, etc.)
We are pointing out that stuff like this is what can earn a runner like Jordan disdain. It's human nature to root for someone who doesn't have such advantages. You can understand what she is doing and still be more inclined to support someone else because of it.

_X_ PR and maybe get someone DQ'd?

Gong. 5k PRs are the same. 1500 and 3000 Hasay is quite superior so on what basis does she "deserve" it?
Um, because she is WAY cuter.

Other _X_ PR and not lapped.
PR and lapped? seriously? You really think the women in this race are going to run sub 14:18? No one in this field has an SB even remotely close to that marked.

Let's get this straight: you don't like her, not because of anything she has done, but because others judge her in a certain way. You do realize this is a bit insane.
thank you for being you Jordan wrote:It is unfortunate but all the fanaticism and unrealistic hype involving this very privileged 22-year-old has made me not like her. I had a dog once who just assumed everyone loved her and while she was a lovely dog, that was not always a fair assumption to make. Hasey's in her own little bubble and a lot of people admire her but the dynamics seem a bit creepy to me sometimes. If she runs 15:25 at Monaco this board will explode but all the adulation seems misdirected. She'll be 40-50 seconds behind the winner. It's like cheering someone for hitting a foul ball.
I agree!
I can't fault someone for being blessed.

Jordan chases Rowbury through first 3k in 8:58, then falls off a lot but still holds on well enough to lower her PR to 15:18. Beats 1 or 2 of Calvin, Checa, Belete; passed in last 800m by Conley. Finishes roughly 45 seconds behind the winner. Meanwhile Rowbury dips [just] under 15.

When the meet is part of a "league" where athletes are competing for overall points, NO, THEY DON'T have that right. Not if it's a legit league.
There are probably athletes with at least an outside shot at earning a DL point or two who would have run if they were invited. There are certainly athletes with no chance at all of earning points who were invited.
DL needs to formulate and enforce a fair system of entry standards. Such as current DL/WC champ, then everyone else seeded by position on the year's top list. Until then DL is a joke.
All I see in the background are swooshes... the meet director knows who butters his bread.
Bonafide stars get in and Nike athletes get in as race fillers.
Where will Hasay finish among the US runners?

Comparing Jordan to Billy Mills - that's funny! Plus the criticisms (advantages not had by others, not being qualified) do not apply to Billy.

It's pretty crazy how Erin Finn has run faster than her.
Well to be fair, didn't Jordan run around 15:30 for her second 5k in the US 10k championships?
It is pretty clear that PB for her is quite soft.
What about the spectators at the meet? Wouldn't you find a track meet to be more interesting with Hasay competing in an event, than if she was not competing?
So, really, by your logic, here is your Monaco DL field, ranked by twitter followers:
KATY PERRY. ...
Justin Bieber. ...
Taylor Swift. ...
Lady Gaga. ...
Britney Spears. ...
Rihanna.
Wait, is one of those not female? I did remove Obama and youtube from the list.
Hasay has the slowest PR here by 13 seconds not 16. I can almost guarantee you that she will not have the slowest PR here after this race. Most likely will finish 15:05-15:10, but possibly less.
On another note, I can see Huddle finishing 2nd or 3rd and under 14:40!! I think she is that good now.
...also, Hasay has the #5 time in the world in 2014 for the 10,000. They probably account for that as well.
