Significant running related folks who are brave enough to have posted under their real names or have a handle that most people know include:
Renato Canova
Jack Daniels
Craig Virgin
Marius Bakken
Jim Spivey
George Malley
Pete Magill
Ed Whitlock
Henry Rono

I'm sure there are many others. As far as people who are famous for things other than running, Malcolm Gladwell and George Gilder are the only ones I can think of. There are likely others. Al Gore probably posts in all the global warming threads.
Off the top of my head, other elites I have seen post under their own name or a name that everyone else knows include:
David Torrence
AJ Acosta
Phoebe Wright
Christian Hesch
Sage Canaday
I'm missing some I know, just additions I thought of real quick.
Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan
Forgot Josh McDougal as well.

You are significant. Be the one to help someone, And let some one help you.Perception is our greatest challenge.

It wouldn't surprise me if Phil Knight, Vin Lananna, and Mo Farah have posted here. George Bush and Sarah Palin were runners so maybe they posted here (and explains all the conservative political threads). Stephen Hawking used to post on the weekly "is the foot pulled back by the treadmill belt" threads, but he finally threw up his hands (if he could) in sadness at the failure of the American education system.
I'd like to see Letsrun work with our top runners to have QA sessions on the message board. Seriously.
Canova...hands down...we are lucky he is willing to post here and answers a lot of questions directly.

Well then, any person of significance will not post on this or any running web site. In the real world no one gives a shit about track and field or cross country. So Hank is number 1..................
Who counts as a, "person of significance"?? Apparently, you are not a particularly smart person. I'm going to call you on the "real world" claim. Please tell me why track and field or CC is not part of the real world??? Are you part of the real world?

Malcolm Gladwell is very insignificant to me. I never heard of him until a few months ago when he posted on here.
I also don't see anywhere the OP says anything about "regular" people.
Yours is the response of an ignorant 10 year-old: if it's not significant to you, it is by your definition not significant to the world.
Any thinking can see Gladwell's significance, and it is plainly greater than any running coach. Even Salazar's greatest moment of genuine fame was being WRITTEN ABOUT in the New Yorker.

He also didn't say anything about significance to morons living under rocks.
Actor Brian Patrick Clarke, and husband of Olympic Gymnast Kathy Johnson, has posted here.
Not the most famous guy in the world, but he had some interesting posts on people who falsely claim to be Olympians. Also a sub 3:00 marathoner.

Depends on what you mean by "significant".
I see Ed Whitlock's posts quite a lot, and he's always gracious and informative. I think he has the most-positive impact on these forums. That, combined with the fact that what he's doing is probably once-in-a-century stuff, gives him my vote.
