Curious about something.
If instead Ricky had been caught with EPO that had led to him pilfering about $5000 in total in race winnings, would you be
A) More upset with him
B) Less upset with him
C) Equally upset with him

Great question!
Oh I'd be way more upset with him. A for sure.
More upset, because there is no legal recourse. Drug cheats get to keep the prize money from races where they were not caught.

People who cheat in life would probably more likely cheat at running too. He was endorsing EPOBoost (although nothing illegal in it) and other supplements. He also had a picture on Twitter showing him at a casino after the Garry Bjorklund Half. Scum!
Surprised more people aren't calling him out for stealing from a RUNNING store. A locally-owned place that tries to help out the running community. Even if Flynn was stealing from Wal-Mart, it wouldn't be right or even justifiable, but the fact that he was stealing from the running community makes it even more disgusting. How self-centered do you have to be to do that?
Also check out that Runner's World article about how he's a "blue collar runner." What a joke—a blue collar runner with an MBA? Hah!
I don't know who you are or how many years of overlap you had with Ricky. I will identify myself just enough for all of you other former LCXCers from my years to know who I am, unlike you. First of all let's SLOW DOWN. He is innocent until proven guilty. If this does turn out to be true this is the land of second chances and someone as tough as Ricky can turn this around. This is the guy that made it to XC nationals in a sling with a broken collarbone. Ricky, it's gonna suck for a while man. Dealing with this and the aftermath no matter what you end up pleading and/or the result of your trial will likely be the hardest thing you've experienced so far in your life. You are an inherently good person and someone WILL give you a second chance when this is all over. Make the most of it and remember the lessons you will learn from this. Good luck buddy.

Yeah, he'll learn not to get caught next time.
Dude, he didn't shoplift a pack of gum from a 7-11. This was allegedly theft of several thousand dollars worth of merchandise and cash over a period of what sounds like many years. This isn't an innocent mistake he'll learn from.
Good luck getting a job in business with a felony embezzlement conviction Ricky!
Maybe Chico's Bail Bonds would sponsor him (assuming he can get out on bail pre-trial).
you are inadequate, googling embezzlement is poor
the charge is embezzlement because he stole in a position of trust (in this case as an employee) :
Virginia Code § 18.2-111. Embezzlement deemed larceny; indictment.
If any person wrongfully and fraudulently use, dispose of, conceal or embezzle any money, bill, note, check, order, draft, bond, receipt, bill of lading or any other personal property, tangible or intangible, which he shall have received for another or for his employer, principal or bailor, or by virtue of his office, trust, or employment, or which shall have been entrusted or delivered to him by another or by any court, corporation or company, he shall be guilty of embezzlement. Proof of embezzlement shall be sufficient to sustain the charge of larceny. Any person convicted hereunder shall be deemed guilty of larceny and may be indicted as for larceny and upon conviction shall be punished as provided in § 18.2-95 or § 18.2-96.
and he'll do some time:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/ex-girl-scouts-ceo-gets-3-months-for-embezzlement/2014/07/08/6dbf91fe-066a-11e4-a7ef-9ed5d8510e81_story.htmlbecause the Lynchburg General District Court online database (google Virginia Court) shows a misdemeanor petit larceny from September 2009 charged and then dismissed
So, same jurisdiction, given a break once ... not gonna get that break twice.
Also he is charged with 5 felony counts, not 1.
They straight indicted him, not messing around.
Was arraigned on May 5 and as of July 8 hearing still did not have a lawyer.
Public pretenders aren't gonna make this go away for college degree wasp runner boy.
Not much room to run here:

Did anyone in D1 or Michael Vick ever do anything illegal? I forgot already so remind me if possible. Even if it's true, it's not all that much money. People have done way worse and this whole thing is being blown way out of proportion.

I don't feel bad for him, he did something really wrong and should be punished accordingly/justly, but I hope he turns his life around.
As I said on the other thread about this, this guy was not nice when I first met him and then beat him when we raced, he acted as if he was the shiXXXt. He was not a guy that I would defend. So I'm VERY happy that I beat him when we raced.
I guess his situation is unfortunate, but let this be a lesson to younger runners, be humble instead of arrogant when it comes to your competitors.

Going to a casino makes you scum?
you're struggling here torsion
"I guess his situation is unfortunate, but let this be a lesson to younger runners, be humble instead of arrogant when it comes to your competitors." - what on earth are you talking about? this not a lesson one would draw from an embezzlement case. you seem hung up on the fact that you don't like ricky flynn as a person and you're basing that off a single time you met him.
If there's a lesson to be drawn from your own posts it's this: don't let torsion beat you in a race because he won't stop talking about it. 4 mentions in 3 posts? maybe take your own advice - running isn't everything. and it's nothing with regards to the topic at hand.

Oh sorry, multiple times I have met him. Stop defending him please, he did something wrong. I take my own advice to the fullest.
Oh and "Dinosaur" , for Ricky's sake, I hope is a girl.
I think everything will turn out ok if he's able to double his mileage in the next couple of weeks. The prosecutor will understand out fit he is and cut him some slack for sure
He's just not a nice person regardless of running. I'm one of the least running obsessed person's you could run into but since I know that he probably reads/hears about these threads I'm happy to give him some of his own medicine. Ricky said some things/acted like a person that I would not care to defend.
you struggle with reading comprehension.
nowhere in my post did I defend ricky. I was only pointing out your faulty logic and the fact that you won't stop mentioning you once beat him in a race.
it doesn't really seem like you put much value in the advice you've given. if you insist on talking about your personal relationship with ricky you certainly could have done it without writing FOUR times that you beat him in a race. humble? yeah right.

Trying to make more money from the money he just made, just like making money off stealing from his employer. Seems like an upstanding individual. :-/
