right now, he has got to get a fast consistent pace because he does not currently have close to the turnover of the top guys. That being said, he only lost by just over a second in the kick, which is quite good for him. Maybe it was hot, but I just do not understand this mental issue of never being ready to get behind the pacers. Maybe only a few are ever confident enough to do that, like Geb, Bekele, El G, and that kid running for Qatar or Bahrain with the 3:50 at 17, who was the great hope a few years ago but went far backwards.
I didn't see the women's steeple, but another major step forward for Emma Coburn, with a 9:14, under two seconds from Simpson's AR, and a second place in the race, beating Assefa by 4 seconds. Maybe that quote gave Coburn some ammunition for this race. I'll bet Assefa knows who she is now.
