He must be pleased to be within 3 minutes of Rupp's PB.
McDougal is awesome! I want to know about his current training. Is he back to doing 100+ mpw in singles? Isn't he coached by Magness now?

Yes, Magness coaches him. His training is up on his blog.
Looks like big mileage still, but more doubles and more controlled quality and mixing in some faster work.

Yawn! Has McDoogie even won a race since then?
Great sign... Good time for this early in his comeback and a fairly hill course.
Any idea what his preferred distance/focus is?
Seems like the marathon might be his best shot for Rio. Meb/Ritz/Hall will be big question marks, then you have Vail and a bunch of people in the 2:10-2:14 range, which seems doable if McDougal is a marathon guy (judging from his mileage and XC history I'd guess he will be).

Yahoo message board just called. They're missing a couple a55wipes from the usual posters.

When and where did Rupp run that fast on the roads? I hope that you are not trying to compare a road run in Atlanta in July with a track race set up in conditions that are perfect with pacers? Nobody could be that ignorant.
McDougal was as always a class act. He came out of the elite tent and talked to whoever came up to him.. great job for 2nd race.

I sure Rupp would be willing to trade his records, cash, and Olympic medal to get that race back from 2007.
I will be interested to see what he does next. Also, what happens when he has to coach full time again? Will he be training with his runners?
Most of his training has been while working full time. I want to see how much he gets done when not working full time.

Some of you folks are such incredible dickheads. What do you do in your 'real' life?
Great start for him. I was more impressed with McDougal when he came out of the "elite" area. He and his wife were very friendly to my family and others. Even ask how my kids did. People worth rooting for in my book.
Way to go McDougal!! So glad to see you back out competing, the perseverance you have shown is inspirational. I'm amazed at your dedication, few people in the world could have continued driving like you have.
