Centro has been flat this year, off of no indoor. He might be fighting injury, or just regrouping for a late-season fast time.

Centro must have no incentives in his contract to run here.
Maybe he had an incentive not to
Maybe he knew he was "glowing" at the moment
Didn't fit in with the drug schedule
I don't hate Mexico and would have no problem if Manzano ran for Mexico. I would cheer him on in any international competition. But I will not cheer him on as a USA runner if he carries a Mexican flag while running for the USA in a national or international competition.
Good luck getting anyone to believe that it is OK for a runner to carry the flag of another country in a national or international competition.

Everyone already does believe that. You're the only nutjob here.
Would you be upset if Meb carried an Eritrean flag? Are you a fan of him?

Meb left Eritrea/Ethiopia because he was in danger of being tortured by the government, so I would be more confused than anything else.
Then why have competition between countries, such as the Olympics, World Championships and World Cup?
I guess in the end, track will just be about individuals who are mercenaries of the shoe, sports bra, swimming wear and running shorts industry and there is no need for countries to compete.
I don't know if that is good or bad, but I guess that is what you are proposing.

A great win for a great guy. And he wasn't shy about mentioning the sponsorship fiasco in his interview.
As for Centro, he does just fine in races like this and has beaten Leo at his own game at times.
I think the reason Centro, Wheating and JMac all passed has something to do with Nike deciding it didn't want to contribute more than necessary to the success of a meet held in Sacramento.
damn fuccking straight except for Jmac who tore a tendon in his foot.
Is it acceptable for a USA runner in the Olympics to wear the uniform of another country during a race? Is it acceptable for a USA runner in the Olympics to wear the uniform of another country during a victory lap?
The only non sequitur would be the lack of response to this direct question.
I thought it was already decided:
Centro would rather do better at Lausanne than here.
Macnamara is strafing injury.
Wheating isn't really back, just kind of back.
Makes sense to me.

Yes, I'm sure he would have made more money if he ran for Mexico? I'm so glad we have runners who take USA dollars but represent other countries with flags and disrespect the country that gave them the opportunity.
You're lucky this country gives you the opportunity to freely be a numbskull. Other countries neuter the feeble minded and other burdens of the state.

Is this supposed to be a comparison to the Leo situation? When has the scenario you posed EVER happened? Leo posed and jogged around with a flag for a few minutes, he didn't wear the uniform of another country.
Sorry - you still didn't answer the question:

Something most Americans do not understand. There are things that you do not do representing your own nation and carrying the flag of another nation (especially a neighbouring nation) is one of the no-no's.
If Leo was competing for Mexico and carrying a USA flag around on the victory lap, he'd be regarded as a villain in that he is not truly representing them and only using them to compete in international competition. If you are representing your own nation, you are in no position to carry around another flag just because it is in your culture.
Heads up, this is a primary reason why he is not sponsored Nike anymore - Nike did not like that publicity stunt and would not give him an increased contract as a result and it doesn't help that the previous contract forced them to give him a bonus for winning a silver medal.
Of course wearing the uniform of another country would be unacceptable. But that didn't happen, and never has. So what is your point?
actually, I take that back. Kenboi of Kenya and Mekhissi of France traded jerseys during the Olympics:

If you drape a flag around you during an Olympic victory lap, it is the uniform that you are wearing. I didn't didn't mean to imply that he also had time to change into a Mexican jock strap.

He was not draped in the Mexican flag. He was draped in the American flag. He was merely holding the Mexican flag.

I certainly don't think its a good idea but meb did it back in the day and I don't remember him getting similar backlash.
I wonder why. Any ideas?
