She did not run the virtual race. She and Larry ran the course afterwards. Lots of RDs do this. See the Boston Marathon RD reference a few pages back.
What is it to you anyway. PO'd that Parvaneh and Larry are getting all the attention?
Then how did she record a chip time when the timing equipment was already put away?
How did Larry run the course when he was Utah?
Were you there? Did you witness them running the course?
There are these things called airplanes. They go fast and people can get from one place to another in the same day.
Drop it. Every one of their races have been verified by Guinness.
All these so called records are a joke, they're about as relevant as a world record in gum boot throwing.
And they take themselves so seriously, here's another one:
"Record-breaking marathon runner says sportswomen do not get the recognition they deserve"
I agree with others : NO ONE is jealous of CHEATERS! And, I do think EVERYONE absolutely should pay attention to ANYONE cheating!!! I've lived here for long time and this is my country. I know in some places cheating, lying, and even bribery are just accepted... If anyone tries that here must just think it's OK if they don't get caught. And if no one says anything, they don't. I learned PLENTY...
I have seen when the media looks into anything scandalous it is like turning on the lights and seeing the cockroaches run!
Ask Dave McGilvery. The Boston RD. He counts his runs after the race has finished. You can do it if you make the rules (RD) and have the special permission of the person who makes the rules.

Shouldn't you have to run DURING the event for it to count. Even if you are the RD. So I can run the Boston course after it is run and say I did the Boston marathon? Think not.

Possible. Especially if he used a private plane. I actually had a morning meeting in Northern Utah and had to be at a dinner in San Antonio that night. I left the meeting mid/late morning and was late for the dinner, but I was nearer the Salt Lake Airport than Bear Lake is.
He was at Bear Lake Utah at 11 a.m. Driving to the airport and taking commercial flights, he may have been able to get to San Antonio and start running by 9 or 10 pm. If he took a plane from Bear Lake to Salt Lake Airport, he could have made the 1:45 flight and been running in San Antonio by 6 or 7 pm. If he had a private jet, he could have been in San Antonio running by mid/late afternoon.
Or maybe he ran in San Antonio on Monday and they included it in their Sun marathon. Looks like a pretty loose deal.
So we're suspicious of Larry Macon, not this RD chick, right?

If you read the thread, it's mostly about being suspicious of this RD chick and Larry Macon is collateral damage.
Good morning LetsRun Crowd. Based on several emails and complaints, we are officially opening an investigation into the marathons run by Parvaneh Moayedi. We are hoping she provides us with better information but have failed in getting any more info. We have reason to be skeptical going forward.
Good afternoon LetsRun Crowd. We have concluded our investigation and have found every race and finish to be legitimate.
Thank you for your patience.
Ex girlfriend and she dumped you? Few things other than that would explain your obsession
I witnessed Parvanah at one of her multiple day series; sit in a car, drive back and fourth (to her house during the "race") and stand at the out and back start/finish line then give herself a time. Her "races" are not chip timed, no one is monitoring how many laps are "run" and she will ask you what you want your finish time to be. There is so much more to be told, she needs to be investigated her events/races are a joke, I'm surprised it taken this long for her to be exposed. BTW Larry struggles to walk upright how the hell does he almost double his previous "world record".
If you have witnessed this, then please contact the investigative news division at KENS5 in San Antonio as well as Guinness World Records. I know KENS5 is already investigating.
That's EXACTLY RIGHT!!! I've heard this exact same thing too!!! And all of us here in San Antonio, have an obligation to let the rest of the running world know what this RD is up to and expose any and ALL improprieties!!! Any fake results, fake finishing, absent runners in finishing results, not actually running, or not actually running the whole marathon... After all, if those who know the truth don't expose it, who will?
WE ALL need to contact the media, and let the media contact Guinness (and if you look at the above, I believe it would be impossible for Guinness to "open" an investigation and then conclude it a couple of hours later...but I suppose when the media contacts Guinness, they can get to the bottom of it all. (And incidentally, Guinness might want to see if anyone has been using their name without authorization???)
I guess if I were Guinness, I would wonder if these marathons are really races. Probably officially by some loopholes, they are. (Issues of whether people ran them are up to the SA crowd to prove or disprove. ) Looking at it from afar, they are so numerous and sparsely attended with such slow race times that I would question whether they are just club runs (really probably walks or walk/runs for many) that, by creative and ingenious organization and planning, are officially races. Not being a race director, I would pose the question of race supervision and marshaling and how that fits into something being qualified as a race.
As an aside, the times are so slow, that I envision people basically walking the loop course, a little bit of jogging in there with a break for lunch somewhere in the middle.
This may be the first lets run thread worrying about people running 6-7 hrs marathons since the jeans marines event.
Old news.
I had a guy tell me he ran some ridiculous time. I challenged him to run 1 mile on the track at the marathon pace.
He never showed.
Tell the cheaters to contact Mo Trafeh for sponsorship
Ouch!
Sadly she is sponsored by Swiftwick, Beef and who knows who else. Just look at this woman she is a fine example of a toned, mentally tough elite athlete.
I agree, all of us in San Antonio, have an obligation to "truth, justice, and the American way." We can be part of the solution or part of the problem. We let it slide and in so doing, we're tacitly condoning cheating. It also lets someone get away with cheating their way to a record. Records are to be "earned" not stolen. And the only way to earn one is through fair, honest, and sportsmanlike competition.
