Sooooo, what does this have to do with Bekele breaking all the distance world records? Oh, that's right, nothing; you're just trying to keep your own thread going.
As usual, such a DB.

Maybe this subject is still appropriate. 7:26 with a 2:24 last km. I hope that Kenenisa has a genuine crack at Komen's record later this year.
any body know KB NEXT COMPETION ?
k. bekele is scheduled for a 5k in lausanne on august 7th as his final race before the worlds where he will run the 10k august 27th.
THANK YOU
I think he said he's going for his 5k WR, not sure if it will be before or after Osaka.
now the iaaf said keninisa bekele will race a 3k on july 25th in monaco, bernard lagat is in the race as well.
It is no doubt that KB has taken his downfall from XC and turned it into motivation. Does anybody have Komen's splits when he ran his 3k world record? It's obvious that if the race was paced better he could have ran at least 7:24 instead of 7:26. I mean he ran 2:23 for his last 1k. Also I am kind of curious to see what kind of 10k shape he really is in. He is fast as hell right now, hopefully his 5k in august goes great and we see a sub 12:40 out of him again.
I feel that he is doing what he should have done last year, but he got so used to winning that he never thought it was possible for him to be beaten, especially in xc. I think the best thing that could have happened to KB is losing at worlds. yes i realize he lost twice last year in track as well but i dont think that had much of an emotional impact on him as much as that XC race did.
I imagine he is going back to the same mentality he had in 04 and 05 where every race is suppose to be something special, no longer is winning just enough. This is the KB that I love to watch, last year was just kind of boring for me to watch him just play around.
Predictions for the rest of the year
3k the 25th, 7:22
5k in august, 12:37
Wins worlds easily and rests up and prepares for his biggest year ever 08 Olympics! where he will drop his 10,000 record to 26:11 and goes for the double again and wins both
any body can guess 10k finishing time ?
26.53 kenenisa
26.59 slishi
27.01 tadesse? or a kenyan?
this thread is altogether too long
No it's not.

I highly doubt that Sileshi can beat Tadesse at the moment. I'd put my money on Tadesse for silver.
Since vipam likes to continually push this thread, let's not forget, as others have pointed out before me, what Vipam's OTHER big prediction on this thread was:

I don't think Hicham have a chance in the 5000m at all now! Kenenisa will force the pace and break Hicham before 3500m if Hicham even runs the World 5000m.

hmmmm.......
Bekele will break distance records- CORRECT
El G will have "no chance" against Bekele in a 5k - INCORRECT
1 -1. That's average. He gets a "C" on this thread.
Where I come from, 50% is an "F", not a "C".
Bekele is still 6 or so seconds off in the Men's 3k. This is probably the one record that he knows he won't break.
he is on the start list for a meet in zarragoza spain saturday july 3rd where he will run the 5k
any other athletes compete with kenenisa??

12:49.53 Bekele
Sunday 29 July 2007
Zaragoza, Spain - Ethiopia's reigning Olympic and World 10,000m champion Kenenisa Bekele produced the highlight performance of the ‘4th Gran Premio Internacional de Atletismo Gobierno de Aragón” held last night (28) on a hot and windy day.
The 4th Gran Premio Internacional de Atletismo Gobierno de Aragón is one of a select group of Area meetings at which points can be acquired by athletes to qualify for the IAAF / VTB Bank World Athletics Final.
The 25-year-old Bekele managed to dip under the 12:50 barrier in his first appearance over 5000m this summer campaign by clocking 12:49.53. In doing so Bekele raised himself to the top position on this year’s world list in a season which had not until last night seen a sub-13 minutes 5000m performance. Bekele also recorded a best Spain’s all-comers time in the process.
he is back and read to roll. i hope he does both. he has yet to win a major champs. 5k. sort of like how coe never won the 800 at a major champs excpet Euro's his last try.
hopefully later in the season Kb takes a crack at a record or two. so far his pacing has sucked. just goes to show he is running so fast people are having a tough time pacing him!
