Regina Jacobs is the greatest fastest black female american middle distance runner in the whole wide universe.
If Ritz avoids getting lapped by Bekele this year, it should put him in the 27:25 range.
Hey no doubt,
where did you get these results?
(are you related to a Nijmegen office?)
clear runner
Kenenisa Bekele's Hematocrit Count and Ferritn Levels compared to Haile's indicates K.B. should run much faster than even his current World Records 12:37.35 and 26:17.53 (3-5 seconds 5000m, and 9-12 seconds in the 10000m) before his career is over.
I agree,
I am just amazed that you have the actual test scores.
where did you get these?
ps.if Geb would brake the WR marathon and Kenny the 3000m the Ethiopians would only need a steeple chaser (which they will never find) to have all long distance records

did I expect Kenenisa Bekele to beat Lagat no, I even voted for Lagat on the poll. Bernard Lagat is after all the 2nd fastest 1500m runner ever and the Meet Record Holder at Millrose. Kenenisa inexperience at the distance will be overcome after more races; however, he may never really master Millrose small oval. The exciting thing is that he was able to outkick a still in his prime Rui Silva who is a incredible closer. Kenenisa Bekele may not have been a match for Bernard tonight, but IT WILL BE ALOT CLOSER WHEN THEY MEET at 3000m later this year (my opinion Bekele wins if fast pace). If it is slower than 7:30 Bernard Lagat will blow almost anyone doors off in the last 200-300m.
nice prediction vipam, still it will be diffcult for kenenisa to beat lagat for 3000mr.
good punshment for kenenisa
You maybe right Mesfin that Bernard could eventually be a threat to Kenenisa at 3000m. Lagat after all did win the 3000m WORLD INDOOR TITLE in 2004 covering the last 1000m in 2:21 (pretty impressive). 2:21 for 1000m is a decent time in an open 1000m for elite runners.

he is a much stronger runner than his 7:33.51 from 2000 and capable of faster than his 12:59.29. While I think he can be a formiable foe for Kenenisa at 3000m at 5000m and above Kenenisa have the stamina to defeat Bernard if he takes it out from the gun (to do so he'll have to be fresh and not double at Championships).
one thing that i understand is that it is much difficult for 5k and 10k runners , to win mile even 3k and 2 mile than the 1500 mr runners.
i may see better time for lagat for 5k may be 12:48 something like that in the near future
Mesfin,
the near future could very well be this year as Bernard (strong inside information) is that he will contest a couple of 3000m and 5000m in some of top tier Golden League meets-one against Bekele. The 3000m/5000m wasn't initial part of the Golden League circuit; however, it was changed recently-I wonder why? The matchup which hasn't been offically released will probably take place at 3000m. I'm waiting to see how Bekele performs in his indoor 2 mile WR attempt (his next race) and that will give better insight to his ready for X-Country and Lagat later in the year.
A long-distance rivalry in the making?
NEW YORK – Kenenisa Bekele’s professional debut in the mile went pretty much as nearly everyone but him expected – the Ethiopian spent most of the race watching Bernard Lagat run away from him.
Bekele finished Friday night’s Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games nearly five seconds behind Lagat’s time of 3:56.95.
But there’s no shame in losing to Lagat.
A two-time Olympic medalist in the 1,500, the Kenyan-born American set the Madison Square Garden and Millrose record in the mile last year.
“I never race under 3,000 meters before, so this race is very tough for me,” Bekele said. “I’m not disappointed because it’s my first time.”
Lagat got out to a quick start, completing the first quarter-mile in about 56 seconds, and a half-mile in 1:53. By that point, Lagat was all alone out front.
Welcome to the mile, Kenenisa.
The 23-year-old Bekele, already a two-time IAAF athlete of the year, should see improvement at the distance soon enough. He’s already essentially conquered the world of the longer distances with an Olympic gold and a world record in the 10,000 and world records in the indoor and outdoor 5,000, too.
Bekele said his trip to Millrose was as much for sightseeing as it was for gaining experience and confidence at shorter distances.
“I did not exactly train for this race, so I’m not disappointed,” Bekele said.
And besides, he’ll probably have a chance to exact some revenge soon enough. Lagat said he plans to run at least one 5,000 this season, probably in Europe. He wants to improve on his personal best of 12:59.29.
Bekele’s world record is 12:37.35.
Friday night, as Lagat sat next to Bekele after their first mile as competitors, someone asked what it would be like if the tables were turned and Lagat were to run in a long-distance race against Bekele.
Before Bekele could answer, Lagat opened his eyes wide in mock alarm and said, deadpan: “He’s going to kill me!”

way to show confidence bernard lagat, already thinking like an american.
once again Kenenisa vs Kenyan athletes. nightmare for up caming fuoka xc.
The World X-Country Championships will be upon us before you know it and Kenenisa is once again a heavy favorite for both titles. He of course has stated he will only run one but we know that not to be true. This X-Country season maybe the biggest challenge for the Ethiopian especially if Abraham Chebii run either course and IF he is TOTALLY back to his form of a few years ago.
In 2005 World X-Country Championships Abraham Chebii ran close to Kenenisa Bekele and was ready to unleash his kick when he stepped in a mud hole and the race was over. Could he have outkicked Kenenisa? He is one of the only man to close a 3000m in 2002 in 50.68 (kicking the last 300m), later defeat Haile Gebrsellasie and Kenenisa Bekele in the same 5000m, and defeat Bekele twice outdoors in the same year. While I think Kenenisa Bekele will be ready for the challenge it very well could be the race of all races IF Abraham Chebii is back to his old form and runs X-Country instead of Commonwealth.
Vipam
i think, kenenisa is concentrating onthe short distance and this enable him to to win the short XC easily but as you said last time it was a close contest b/n kenenisa and the kenyan athletes. However, it will be the same history as the pervious one
I hope so. Kenenisa Bekele is the man in the 10000m and X-Country because of his tremendous stamina, endurance, and superb kick. Abraham Chebii of 2002 and 2003 was the BEST KICKER in athletics until he suffered an injury. If he is back to his OLD form Kenenisa Bekele and Hicham El Guerrouj better beware in the 5000m and drop him before the last lap. In X-Country it will be the first time Kenenisa will need to put some space on an athlete. If Abraham Chebii isn't 100% back to his old form than he won't pose a threat to Kenenisa Bekele in X-Country; however, he lowered a strong course record by nearly a minute in sitting and outkicking Boniface Kiprop in January. I think this year will be Kenenisa Bekele biggest challenge ever in X-Country and it should be an awesome event at the Championships.
in the long race kenyan samuel wanjiru who lives in fukuoka japan, might give k. bekele a good race, he is young, has nothing to lose, and probably trains on the worlds course regularly.
well, Samuel Wajiru do not have expriance fro XC and i don't think so he will be a big treat.
one thing what make me surprise is that no one is good in croos country with the excpetion of Kenenisa. at one time i thought Abebe dinkesa but in int'l comp. he is not that much a treat for kenyan and once again i am afraid that thier will be presure against kenenisa with kenyan team tactic

that can be trained, Kenesia will eventually be beat, my prediction: his successor will not come from Ethiopia
