I would love to see Cain falter in the stretch and have Ephraimson nip her at the line for 5th place.

Efraimson is amazing and Cain is rounding off into shape, I definately expect Cain to be ahead 9 out of 10 of the times they would race. Let's be honest, can Efraimson do this and still be competitive?

Cain ran 4:05.21 and almost beat Genzebe Dibaba in the race above who last year ran 3:57...yes Efraimson is very talented, but she is not ahead of where Mary Cain was last year or this year, who could have possibly have run 4:01-4:02 last year if she got in the perfect race like Efraimson did in New York. Efraimson could beat Cain if she had a perfect day and if Cain had a bad one, but Cain is definitely the better runner at the moment.

I think it's the same dynamic, at least for some, as their dislike of Rupp. I've never met him, but people who have tell me he's a decent guy. Maybe it's just human nature, at least for some, to resent their "superiors."
In a strange way, I guess I'm lucky: I haven't been able to run for 40+ years, so just about everyone on this board is my superior in that respect. I don't have the energy to resent them all! So I just wish everyone well, and try to focus on getting by.
You have a positive mindset, my friend. How come you haven't been able to run for all those years?
I'm very out of shape myself, but am slowly trying to get back into jogging.
How incredibly refreshing, two individuals with maturity and positive attitudes trying to contribute in a positive way to life and running and on LRC. Is it too much to hope this could be a trend.

(Haha, yes.)
I agree with the others that the resentment probably has to do with her being with the NOP. I personally don't care who wins, although if Alexa won that would be a major statement and probably convince her to turn pro as well. I think many more people would resent Mary if she pulled a Galen Rupp and ran for Oregon with Alberto still coaching her.
My bias is that I want the athlete who has put in the work to run with proper form to beat the one who is flailing around.
When are they racing???

Like I said, Cain is definitely ahead of Efraimson without a doubt and she's just beginning to round into shape, good race by Cain in round 1 of the 1500m at USAs
