Ducks could mean ducking the competition.
Beavers could be taken as a ladies private parts area.

The other sports teams really aren't getting any complaints.
The examples are pretty dumb.
The Braves and Chiefs are pretty positive terms.
You prove my point. Nobody names a mascot to offend. A mascot is something the LOVE. People idolize the mascot.
It makes zero sense that someone would pick a mascot they view as inferior or anything close to that.
1) it's a compliment.
2) it's a private company.
3) Look up what oklahoma means.
Get over it for all 3 reasons.
For those of you who think the term Redskins is innocent, non-demeaning, and non-offensive, travel to the nearest reservation by yourself, go up to the first group of Native Americans you see and say: "What's up, redskins, where can I get a drink around here?" and see what happens.

I'll give you a fourth: The name was based off of their first coach. It was never meant to insult Indians.

Sorry liberals, time to find something else that doesn't matter to complain about!
Let's ban the United Negro College Fund and the NAACP-National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Lol white dudes explaining what is and is not racially offensive.

Slave owners explaining why slavery is good for the slaves.
White settlers explaining why God gave them the land and so the right to drive the Indians off of it. Or, in the 21st century, driving the Palestinians out of their ancestral homes.

Not that it matters, but that's a complete lie.
Go tally these numbers up and tell me how many fall to atheist hands:

Is the team logo an accurate depiction of the coach?

It's been an offensive term for Native Americans for at least 250 years. I find it incredible that you've never heard it in any other context than in referencing the NFL team. Did you never hear of "Indians" before seeing Bob Feller take the mound?

Rumor dispelled.

He changed it as to avoid confusion with MLB's Boston Braves (after which, by convention, the football team was named).

Honest to goodness, I have never heard "redskin" outside of referencing the football team. Never. Not even once. I promise. Maybe I'm sheltered, or maybe I just don't hang around racist people. I don't know, but I swear I've only heard the word in reference to the team.
That said, I honestly don't care if they change it or not. Doesn't impact my life in the slightest.

It was named 80 years ago.
Times have changed.
Someone linked an article that the coach it was possibly named after was someone pretending to be an Indian for PR reasons and other benefits. That's exploitation.
Several other teams have changed their names.
Not originally intended to offended but they made the change as the image grew more negative.
I agree that they shouldn't be forced to change their name.
I think they should voluntarily make a step as a sign of good intentions.
And for money. There will be big merchandising in the change.
I don't really care if they change their name, just never liked the way it sounded.
And you hear rumblings all of the time - a bit of a distraction to the team, to me.

Watch some old westerns.
This is all a distraction to keep your focus off of the real issues at hand. You are all being played.
