Good catch, itk! Thanks.
Again: Does anyone know the start date for Ivy xc practices? Have they begun already?

I assume this week or next.
Cornell has posted its t&f-newcomers release:
http://cornellbigred.com/news/2014/8/20/MXC_0820142017.aspx
Here are the freshmen who appear on the current xc roster, along with the info I could find for them (better marks, as listed in the release, are in parens):
Sam Chauvin Fr. Corning, N.Y. / Corning HS
15:10track 9:11 4:21y
Dominic DeLuca Fr. Dallas, Pa. / Dallas HS
9:03 (8:21m) 4:17
Josh Dyrland Fr. Irondequoit, N.Y. / Irondequoit HS
9:26 9:35sc 4:21
Elly Kipkogei Fr. Nairobi, Kenya / Alliance HS
Will Ronchetti Fr. Brighton, N.Y. / Brighton HS
9:19 4:24(4:16) 1:58
Chase Silverman Fr. Winnetka, Ill. / New Trier HS
9:09 4:16 1:59
Michael Wang Fr. Lafayette, Calif. / Acalanes HS
4:14
This may be a somewhat stronger distance group than the crop the Big Red brought in last year, but still has to rank (at least from other schools' rosters that we've seen so far) as one of the lesser rookie crews in the Heps. Among Ivy schools, it seems that you have to bring in multiple sub-9:00 guys to stay level--amazing, how the League's standards have toughened over just the last few years!
Note: some middle-distance rookies are not on the roster for cross. Among them:
Tim Boston 1:56(1:54) 2:31(2:29) 4:20(4:17)
Alex Clapacs 1:53
Ross Clarke 1:52
Overall the Big Red brought in a representative group, but no repeat of last year's monster class. Some good talent in the sprints and throws, but not much in the hurdles (last year's rookie group covered that) and a limited showing in the jumps. If Princeton has one of its great recruiting classes (they frequently do!), then indoor/outdoor Heps could tighten up yet again.
[I realize this thread is about cross, but I'm more interested in t&f, so deal.]

Dunno about the rest of the track and field events, but Princeton has posted a men's cross-country roster:
http://www.goprincetontigers.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPID=4261&SPSID=46853&DB_OEM_ID=10600Garrett O'Toole is the obvious exception, but I don't think they brought in any other sub-9:00/3200 guys. Are there really that many in the US in any given year???
I don't think they have a track roster up yet.
Princeton got wolfgang beck, he is a great pickup.
Also, if a Cornell guy ran 8:21 for 3k, isn't that "worth" an 8:58 for 3200?
Plus, I agree that Wolfgang Beck is outstanding, but I haven't seen any sub-9:00 times for him--seems like he's stronger in xc anyway, and I'd definitely say he's an impact recruit.
According to dyestat he ran an 8:26 3k and a 9:03 3200. Here is a link to Princeton's recruits. The Ivy league is getting crazy good recruits. Heck even Brown got a great distance class this year. Should be interesting down the road to see who pans out and which recruits fall off. It also makes it interesting tht most of the Ivy League is in the Northeast Regional, so qualifying for nationals could be an ivy league showdown (with syracuse and iona and providence).
whoops, forgot the link...here it ishttp://parser.dyestat.com/collegepicks.jsp?seasonyear=2014&sort=colleges&colID=6420

Well, Neer's on the roster now!

You need to be patient. Sports info offices take their time to update cross country rosters. Anyway, you shouldn't have doubted.
Waverly Neer to Oregon now that they've updated their roster to include transfers:

I doubted since I did not read anything at the time of it being official, and my research did not yield anything.
As for other Ivies running for graduate school:
Maksim Korolev - Stanford
Geogehgan & Gregorek - Oregon - no XC though
Morgan Kelly - Virginia
Tyler Udland - FSU
Sammy Silva - New Mexico
Peter Callahan - New Mexico - believe not for XC though
Neer - Oregon (transfer)
Margaret Connelly (Brown) - Iowa State
I thought I read somewhere on twitter that Princeton's official practices begin today while Penn was earlier this week...
Also, schedule is up:
http://hepstrack.com/blog/2014/08/27/time-to-run-on-grass/You're missing a couple of Princeton guys who will be running for grad school:
Jonathan Vitez - Notre Dame
George Galasso - Boston College
Alejandro Arroyo Yamin - NAU (though he's done with XC)

Awesome - thanks! I'll add them to my list. So Vitez and Galasso will have XC eligibility?
Thanks for the updates, gang.
I think the openers are just six days away. I'm frankly surprised not to have seen more preseason looks (by SIDs and whatnot), but there you are.

Harvard season's preview:
http://www.gocrimson.com/sports/xc/2014-15/releases/20140826ksvc62Yes, as far as I'm concerned, Vitez and Galasso have XC eligibility.
John Schilkowsky from Cornell is also now running for Northeastern. He was 2nd for the Huskies and 2nd overall yesterday at the Shawn M. Nassaney Memorial Race hosted by Bryant University. Good to see him back in action after a long battle with inury!
Regional preseason rankings published
http://www.ustfccca.org/assets/rankings/div1/2014-xc/Div1_XC_2014_Preseason_Regional-Summary.pdf
I was a bit surprised to see Yale so high and Dartmouth so low in the Northeast on the men's side.

Nah, Yale's legit, but maybe they won't be able to take as many people by surprise as I thought they might.
Thanks for the link, btw--really looks like the folks who put those together paid attention to a lot of data. I'm honestly impressed: I think there will be some shifting of positions as the season progresses, but those look like eminently fair preseason rankings.
I expect the top five guys from the top five teams to look something like this:
Princeton
Pons
Owens
Mcdonald
O'toole
Beck
Columbia
Everett
Boyle
Golestan
Braude
McClemens
Dartmouth
King
Gorman
Talbot
O'sullivan
Gregory
Penn
Awad
Shearn
Smith
Tuck
Wilson
Harvard
Purnell
Geiken
Cotton
Colson
Huffman
With those lineups I think the team battle will have four or five close contenders. I think Dartmouth will be the only team with 5 guys in the top 15 and will win with their depth.
