I had a little bit of IT band troubles last year during XC but it was nothing too bad. After about a week of stretching it really well it went away. Now it is starting to come back. It hurt a lot more last year when I first got it but this time it seems to be a little swollen (could be fluid, ice doesn't seem to reduce the size of it). I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced a little swelling or fluid on the outside of their knee before. Thanks in advance for any replies.
I have never had much swelling, but I constantly have problems. If you can, the best thing to do is get some massage work on your IT band above the knee along the side of your quad and along your hamstring above your knee. Also, get the outside of your calf massaged. THere are also a bunch of exercises you can get from a sports physician. My suggestion is just to stop running for a week or two do some good stretching and massaging, icing, and see how you feel.
