Farrell, do all of us, "Freshman", as you so lovingly called us last fall a favor, stop speaking on behalf of the team. We don't want your help. And could you not brown nose so hard. Thanks, Mate! Cheers!

Current Cowboy is Chad. You're welcome.
Back to the topic...German went in hoping to run 13:30 and was close to that pace through about 4k. Wheels really came off the last k. Not bad really, they just misjudged his fitness and he went out a little too hard. Hope he goes over to Europe to race. Could see him going sub 13:30 and would like to see him run some 1,500's and 3k's. This would set him up well for 2015 and 2016...if he stays healthy. I think some of Alberto's gizmos could help in this are but I think Jerry is anti gizmo.

Are there races in Europe for folks running 13:30?

Why? Farrell is gone already, no?
Current Cowboy is neither anyone named Chad nor is it Tom, so don't go making this needlessly hard for someone that isn't the culprit. I'm an OSU graduate (2009), and still somewhat in touch with current upperclassmen. I figured out who it was last night. I went through channels to get his cell, talked to him, and I put an end to his postings. As was stated by another poster, Dave is not a big fan of running forums, and preferred that we stay off them. Weis didn't care one way or another. Though somewhat admirable, defending coach, or anyone else for that matter, is not something that needed to be done by this young kid. We're all big boys here, and should form our own opinions based on firsthand facts and experience- but that's just not reality to expect that of the general population- those facts are not something that can really be conveyed on a message board, or learn 8th hand through the internet. I, for one, am happy to see German Fernandez racing again. His talent is boundless, and will be cheering as loud as anyone as he starts to get in his groove again. Let's put our positive energy together and pull for him, instead of being critical of his most recent performance. He recently had a great session, and I'm sure will tear it up in Europe.

Good grief.
F german Fernandez. I'm tired of him coming back so slow. He's done the one whole time now I mean oh my god he should be down to 1:38, 3:20, 3:37, 12:24, 25:59, 57:45, and 2:01:45 already. FOR MY SHIT'S SAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, this ^ is truly bizarre. Not the dumbest, nor the worst post I have seen on these boards. But very possibly the most bizarre.
If you don't mind, Biw, post your email. I'd like to pick your brain on your thoughts with OSU and training.

Yeah, imagine having graduated 5 years ago and still being this involved in the school. Time to move on, broheim!
Sounds line an ongoing long chain of abuse.
No one out there should be weeping for Dave Smith, or criticizing him either. He has won three out of the last five NCAA XC titles. The only other program to win three in recent years is Colorado, and the third one goes back to 2004 (=3 in 10 years). And obviously Oregon, Stanford, Colorado, and maybe a couple more recruit equivalent talent or better.
Comparing CU to OSU isn't a far comparison for a program (CU) having 5 scholarships, to OSU's that receives 12.5. You can spread the money if everyone's on a minimum of 12 credits. Which makes 15 fills, instead of 12.5.
There's a huge selling point offering full rides, at the end of the day, runners want the feeling of being taking care of financially.
Also, Americans vs foreign talent isn't such a bad ordeal for schools that don't get the very top American talent, however, getting the older foreigners doesn't bold well in trying to prove one's coaching is significantly better or earned. One of our Kenyans was 29. Though, Kosgie, our other one at the time, wasn't "that" old for a Kenyan. Kosgie was so talented, that he didn't touch running for a whole summer, didn't run over Christmas break, and his last 6 weeks of track season, ran just workout days... And still finished top 10 at NCAA's. Crazy talent. Cool dude, too. The older one was a bit of a stiff though. Kosgie was a sub 13 talent, just ran to leave Kenya (I believe)..
