Ran faster than Pre but not close to the win.
Should we be concerned or should we be encouraged she's getting faster?

Women get slower as they age
-
No need to be concerned. Talent never goes away! Give the girl time. She has a bright future ahead of her.
-
Americans don't win every race. This is a major disaster. It is time to hit the PANIC button.
-
She's only 18. I think she'll be fine.
-
She keeps improving each race this outdoor season. She hasn't hit one out of the park yet because she's being patient and aiming to peak in August. She'll do what she needs to do and is headed in the right direction. Success doesn't come over night. It takes time. Be patient. 2:01 while "getting back into things" is ridiculously good for a US HS senior.
-
She's probably got her peak set up for World Junior Champs so I wouldn't worry that not in top for after only two races.
-
She's only 2 secs down on her best

She's not a 'US HS senior'. She's a professional runner with a bigger contract and more resources than almost every one of her competitors. -

Since her high school's graduation ceremony is next week, I'd still call her a HS senior. She has all the resources of any HS student living at home with their parents.
. . . jealous much? -
I have to think that she's just not been that motivated recently, but getting away from her high school should get things back on track soon enough. 2:01.67 is still among the best ever hs times, but I definitely don't like the poor mental attitude that Salazar is conveying to her by having her duck her best high school competition, switching her races around, and having her talk with a psychologist for two hours after her rust buster at Pre.

Nothing I said had anything to do with jealousy. You're just delusional. Every HS student living at home with their parents has a Nike contract and is personally trained by a world coach? Where are these high schools??? -

Well she graduated, but she's still a HS senior. You can be in HS and go pro. Lance Armstrong was a pro triathlete age 16 while in HS. Mary was/is a pro runner in HS her senior year. -

Just stop and admit you were wrong. You called her a hs senior as an excuse for her running performances. But that's entirely irrelevant because she has better resources and money than most of her competitors. Being or not being in high school is thus completely irrelevant. -
18 year olds shouldn't be pro athletes. She should have run in college, with European jaunts in the summer. Her parents remind me of pushy tennis parents.

don't matter if HS senior or not, on NOPe dope

She only just (or will soon?) moved out to Oregon, so for the most part this year she does not have more resources than her competitors. (Other pros) Does she even have training partners until now?
That said her fast times before Salazar are what got her in, so kind of irrelevant the advantages she now has. She was running 2:03, 4:11 in 2012. Other girls have the exact same advantages, in that if they were showing the same potential at 16 they might have got the same opportunities. You can't blame her current opportunities from being the fastest American 16 year old 2 years ago. She earned them, others haven't.
