no way he goes 3:54 for the AR

655 for Rupp at 2600.
At halfway, we'd say he was at 6:39 so he's on 13:18 pace.
3k split is 757.
13:00 pace is 7:48. 3200 is 8:19 for 13:00 pace and they were 829-30.
Gonna be a burner last 1600. Let's see what he can come up with.
12:05 w lap to go, can still break 13!
I had Galen closing in 1:55.. just lacked the last gear for the final 400.
55 last lap for Alamirew. Rupp got dropped 300 to go.
13:01.58 winner
He looked disappointed.

you can never trust the Africans...they shouldn't get their rabbit $$$. I hope Rupp throttles them when it counts
Wow.
I dont think galen struggled at any point really during that run, it was really just the final 200 really where you could see he that hes been focused way more on the 10k and had no 5k speed to close with. Even still he was able to pass longosiwa in the final 100 and take 3rd, id say overall a good showing for him off a slow race.
Rupp 13:03 3rd place. Getting there.
Bumbi 13:13
drug testing has ruined the 5000
I'm just surpised he got 3rd, I mean, that's not bad compared to his other DL finishes, and I'd say this is a postitve race for Rupp looking towards 5k AR later this summer and 2015 WC's, and he did beat Gebremeskel along with another slew of Kenyans/ Ethiopians, what did Bumbi and Lamong get?
Congratulations to all these fine young men.
Why does Galen think he can sprint with them? If he doesn't take off with 1K to go he has no chance (and even then he might lose). The announcers said he could close in 52. THAT'S HILARIOUS!!!
no more drug testing this year!! They are tired from multiple
races in different time zones!!
yeah I had a 4:03 last 1600, with a 1:56 last 800 in that. flying. rupp looked fine the whole way. flags were waving so it was windy. huge killer kick.
pacers did get 3-4 seconds off in between 2k-4k which blows and took away AR. but galen was racing to win... and almost did it.
he started his kick way too late. he should be the one to make the first move!

M3000Sc - Kipruto over Koech with Jager just under 8:10 with no AR.
M5000m - Alamirew ftw in 12:57. Rupp close, just cracking 13.
MMile - Souleiman should be able to win but likely not particularly fast. Centro over Willis for top Non-African.
Not to be picky but you had Jager 3rd. You got Alamirew so now I need Centrowitz...I'm going to need some help from the field.
So far 2nd and 3rd is not too shabby.
2:54 last 1200!

Except for the fact that Rupp has closed in 52 seconds before. It's correct to say he can do it.

Yeah, and all those other races were over 13 minutes too. Sad
The f--- was Rop doing? Was the weather so terrible he couldn't keep up with pacer 1 through even 2k?
clutch post, pavel. Thanks for the link
The top few did a 58.- penultimate lap and likely that pace from 1k out, then alimerew closed in 55. Rupp probably ran another 58.
