Yes, I realized the same thing... They make some mistakes sometimes...

I still don't see Gebremeskel taking down Rupp... Gebremeskel beat Lagat in the Carlsbad 5k and Lagat beat Rupp twice a 3k this season (just for another perspective)... He is the Olympic silver medalist, and not only did Gebremeskel lose the Rupp in the 10k at World last year, but 1) he was new to the event 2) he had a bad race, and he fell way off the back, it's not like it was close between him and Rupp and 3) the 10k is Rupp's main event... Of runners still competing track right now (yes, excluding Gebresellase and Bekele), he has the fastest PB in the world at 12:46 and I say that because Bekele was also in that race (12:49) and Bekele has shown that he's not in his 12:37 shape anymore obviously...

I really want to see another 2012 Paris, but it won't happen here, and Gebremeskel has already stated this year that he wanted to go for another fast time at Paris relative to what happened 2 years ago...

I predicted that he would break his 10k record and I know that he can run at least 26:38 in the 10k right now.

There is the possibility of 12:47 for him!

With two Schumacher guys here I am going to expect one of them to beat Rupp to get the AR and then Alberto will FREAK OUT! Would love to see it.

Weather notwithstanding, I say Rupp can break the AR just from the very fact that he is coached by Salazar and he is entered in the race. Why else would he be entered in the race if he couldn't give the AR a serious run?

We know that Salazar only enters Rupp in races for a purpose.

If this race was about sitting and kicking, Rupp wouldn't be in it because we know he hasn't been doing much speed training.

Maybe he is just in the race for the sake of experiencing competition. That could be the case but I doubt it. Its an off year and he can do that later in the season after his kids are born.

All signs point to Rupp entering this race because he is in very good shape and wants to take advantage of it to do something special before he takes time off for the birth of his kids. Moreover he is going out of his way to travel all the way to Oslo. A meet virtually synonomous with very fast races.

Nothing else makes sense to me about him entering this race except that he is going for the AR and Salazar believes he is in shape to get the AR. Therefore, I say he gets the AR. Again, weather notwithstanding.

I think Rupp is in 12:50 shape, but it's too soon since his 10k. It would be amazing if he ran 12:55, but I bet he runs 12:59.

13:07. You are all way too optimistic about the frequency of sub-13 5000's. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it go fast.

The 26:44 was good but that may wear off quickly. Last year Gebremeskel ran 26:51 by himself and then fell out the back of 27:3x pace in Moscow.

He's got the speed to close hard and set various American records over the last few months, not only in the 10k but also shorter distances. If he runs this race at his fastest, and the influence of tactics is little to none, then a 12:54 will be it. We can't know though, on account of how the tactics will play out. Anything could happen.
