It is up this morning.
Thanks for the post. Wish you the best. #imamcdouglar seems to be getting around, lot of people rooting for you.
I think it is #imamcdougaler not ar
I used to watch you run up in NY. You rock! I'm rooting for you!
Blog is great and inspirational kind of made me tear up a little...
Josh, If possible could you detail the kinds of rehab and strengthening you went through to come back from your leg condition. I have been dealing with the issue for five years and your comeback gives me some hope that I can kick the problem as well.
Have you watched the video on the blog with McDougal and his P.T. ? That explains a lot of it.
Thanks for posting on LR. Best of luck to you in your comeback.
Article's 3 years old. But great & relevant to this thread. Great, great article.
Hard to not root for the guy. Thank you Letsrun for not attacking this!
Good luck Josh! I would assume you are looking to 2016. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress!

I followed Josh's career from afar, but I can honestly say that I am thoroughly impressed with what I've read here and on his blog. How can one not help pull for this guy? His story would make for a book I'd like to read or a movie I'd like to see. With all the bashing and negativity that we get on this board (Jennings, Hall, Acosta...), McDougal's story is a breath of fresh air that I can only hope will provide him with a sense of satisfaction.

Jennings??
Gabe's post college career was marked by a series of unusual choices that provided much fodder for the LetsRun denizens.
From your blog, Josh:
"A month to the day this email was sent I met my wife for the first time and proposed."
Whoa dude. You met your wife by replying to an email and proposed to her on the same day? What was that like?
I am stunned he ran 4:10 and think it's a fantastic result. He should be very happy. I can't believe he's racing again. Best of luck to him. I hope he's doing well and continues to enjoy running.
New blogs up. He's doing in the 120s for mileage with some decent looking tempo, track work and doubles. Impressive stuff given he's only been back running 6 months, really hope it works out for him and it's fantastic to read a blog to see how it all unfolds.
Josh / Victoria,
If you read this, great website and please keep the training updates / logs included and updated as they are really fascinating to people reading each week.
All the best.
Does anybody know what specifically was wrong with him? Seven years is a long time to be out. I mean, Greg Oden was out two years. Just wondering.
A actual runner posted on letsrun!
I didn't know too much about Josh McDougal, but read his blog post and found it very inspiring as someone who used to run competitively in high school, but lost around the same amount of time away from the sport as Josh did. However, my lack of running wasn't because of injury, but because of an addiction problem.
In the last few weeks I've started running again and hope to race again some day and run longer distances (10K, half-marathon, and marathon), which I'd never done before. I will have to look up more about Josh, but thank you for the inspiration!
