Let's have a LetsRun Poll:
1. Who are the LR certified runners today ...?
2. Who are the LR non-certified runners today ...?
Keep checking the polls since it could change whenever LR deposits a check.
... when dreams ....
Adam is coming to a race that I am running in August (a very low-key event called the Panda Bear Night Run in Alma, MI). The race director puts on races just about every month here in the mid-Michigan area. When he told us at the last race about Goucher, I was very excited. Everyone else just stared blankly and had to be informed that it was "Kara's husband" before they had any clue who the guy was. Enough rambling though…
In conclusion, Kara probably wins. It is an argument worth having though and had Adam stayed healthy, he could've easily been more successful.[/quote]
Glad to see that you'll be there, I'll be there too:) I can tell you in person just how dumb I think you are. I will wait with baited breathe for your highly sophisticated response. I'll be around 1:16 for the half, so I'm not sure if we'll get to do much running together:) Slow maybe, but surely quicker than you:)

Both careers are tainted, IMHO, by their association with Salazar. Both are dirty pigs as far as I am concerned.
Let's take a LR Poll
1: Is Adam Goucher a dirty Pig?
2. Is Kara Goucher a dirty Pig?
Can the moderators take the count on this poll?
Let's take a LR Poll:
1. Do all Nike athletes deserve to be treated like a dirty pig?
2. Did Centrowitz deserve to be treated like a dirty pig?
3. Did Rupp deserve to be treated by a dirty pig?
3. Did Jordan Hasay deserve to be treated like a dirty pig?
Dude, what the hell? Let's stay on topic here. Discuss Centrowitz, Rupp and Hasay elsewhere.
Both had great careers but the Fat Lady has sung her last song. Time to ride those tired horses into the Colorado sunset........Let it GO!!!!!

Yeah, DaveW is kind of psycho. Needs help.

trick question: Colt Goucher will run sub 1240/2620 PRs in 25 years and go on to win the 5k/10k double gold medal in the 2040 Olympics. Calling it now.
Not with Dibaba and Sihine's child running he won't.
Here is some data...I quickly calculated their PBs relative to the current WR. I think this is fair considering the era that the WRs were set, i.e. the WRs were set before or during the Goucher's peak performance in each event. Adam's are the following: 1500m=95.1%, Mile=95.3%, 3000m=%96.9, 5k=95.9%, and 10k=94.0%. Kara's are 1500m=94.0%, 3000m=94.6%, 5k=95.1%, 10k=95.5%, Half=95.8%, and Full=93.5%. The % is calculated as PB/WR*100. Interpretation of this data is left to someone else...

Ouch. However, it does appear that you care enough about what I think to have read my reply. Also - I am smarter, faster, and better-looking than you.

Actually, I have just run a search on your screen name, read some of your posts, and have decided that I like you. I take back my nasty comments. Your post about the US talent pool being shallow for women was completely asinine (albeit true) and added nothing to the debate, but that is okay.
World Championships medal trumps no medal.

eh, I don't know about that. Medals say as much about who else you happen to be racing against at that particular time and place.
Three people HAVE to medal in every event, every time there is a championship. It's not like the Pulitzer Prize where if no one is deserving in a particular year, they don't give it out.
That said, great for Kara and her WC 10000 Bronze, but medals are not the end-all, be-all when looking at someone's career.
The OP spoke too soon! Kara will be back at Chicago or NYC this fall and plans to make it to RIO! Adam may be in the lead but Kara will surpass him when all is said and done.

Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
