If this is true, shouldn't that logic apply to almost everyone, regardless of wage? Should everyone be making less, to keep them motivated? Secondly, there is a problem of motivation at the other end of the scale too. No one is going to work for $1/hour. If things stay the same, eventually no one will work for $9/hour. May as well stay unemployed if the benefits of working aren't significant.
Kudos for paying your workers more than minimum though, we should have more employers like that.
