Its simple for Centro. He has to get faster ,today showed when the big boys run fast he's not in game. Centro knows it , he said it today in an interview.

Centro's interview pretty much said it all:
He was disappointed to be unable to get the positioning early on that he wanted; he said that his inability to get good position in the first 150m was more physical than mental; he doesn't want to use too much energy then with all the pushing but he has to get closer to the front in these fast races; he lost a month of training starting just before what was to be his first race in the winter due to pericarditis (or something like that), inflammation of his heart; it's harder to finish high in these races than in championship races because there will be multiple Kenyan 3:30 guys sitting at home in those races; he was glad to pr but wanted to go sub 3:50; and he has another mile in two weeks in Oslo.
I'd like to see Rupp as well in that Dream Mile. This may be the fastest of the year, but there will be pacers there to 2:50 at 1200 again, maybe faster, I would assume, which would put them in great shape to go sub 3:50 if they have a kick left.

Manzanao is the Olympic silver medalist yet couldn't get in the fast heat in his own country?
Let me guess, he doesn't wear Nike.
Your kidding right? Ryan Gregon is the national record holder for the UK. He wasn't in it either.

Yeah, but did he look comfortable?
It shouldn't have, but it made me laugh.

The race was in Tijuana? I thought it was in Oregon.
yawn. Webb ran 3:53 in high school.

Probably more because he was in the fast heat at Pre last year and didn't break 4 minutes.
You are right. That is why he wins major championship medals.

Lol
Centro looked like a master tactician.

Track was not huge in the 70s. I was competing then, it was sort of on the mild upswing, but huge? No.
It was sort of big in the 60s in the context of USA vs. Russia meets in the early 60s.
And yes, Centro is no Webb. He actually has medals!
I hate getting into these discussions with people but:
Races/meets were on network TV all the time. I remember the Dream Mile at Franklin Field was huge (look up the video).
Sports Illustrated, newspaper coverage, etc
I even remember the Commonwealth 1500 when Bayi broke the world record being on the Evening News.
I was competing too. Apparently I was actually paying attention.
He seems to think he missed an opportunity. I think he was disappointed in himself. I was hoping he would be closer to the front at the bell.

This early in the year stuff is being over played.
He's a pro. A two time medalist.
And he got whipped by other pros on his home track.
There's no championship to peak for this year.
He skipped the relay champs to focus on this.
This was as important as any race he will run this year.
The others are managing 3:47 miles and 3:29 1500s right now.
Centro's coach just got his other athlete to run an AR this weekend.
So there's no real excuse to not run fast as hell right now.
That being said, he's still pretty fit and has a lot of races to look forward to this year.
I'd like to see him go after the 1500m AR.
But in order to do that, you have push races beyond your comfort zone.
We've never seen him do that.
Don't post drunk. Rupp himself said the AR shouldn't have been hard as he's in much better shape then when he set it years ago.
Early in the season does matter. Many people will run fast too early and others will run fast toward the end. Centro is usually one of those guys

Rojo, such comments of yours are embarrassing for you and your own website. Maybe this is a typo, but you should KNOW that GregSon (!) is Australian. How can he have the national record for the UK? Why don't you journalists proofread anymore?

rojo's grasp of geography is every bit as strong as his spelling and grammar

SNAP
Early in the season matters as much as late in the season this year.
And Pre would mean more than any other event this year for an American representing Nike.
Still time to have a fantastic year.
But these races matter to Suleiman, Kiprop and Kiplagat.
They matter to other top athletes in other events.
Centro is a two time medalist and would like to be world ranked high this year.
Thi race will factor into the rankings.

this is not a sports season like the nba, nfl, or ncaa for that matter. PRE is one of the biggest races and one of the most important races of the season. This isn't an early season race to train through in order to prepare for the super bowl. Unless it is not a diamond league that is televised on NBC?

Leaving the Olympic Silver Medalist out of the mile final, which had SIXTEEN MEN, is a disgrace.
Nike is becoming so pathetic at this point.

No, he just DNFs when he gets uncomfortable.
It's a team thing.
Centrowitz will NEVER get the AR. Not enough heart.
