Being runners a lot of our passwords at LRC are some combination of runners names and runner's times.
The problem is once we usually change a password to honor a runner it's a kiss of death.
Paul Tergat, Paula Radcliffe all have had passwords. It meant the end of world records for them.
Last year, we had to update some passwords and Leo Manzano was unsponsored so we honored the underdog Leo with his own password.of last year.
The earliest mention I can find of the password is on 7/13
After starting off the season in suspect form, Leo had finished 2nd at USAs, made the World team, and ran 3:33.14 for 3rd in Paris on 7/6. Moving in a very positive direction.
Then we gave him his password.
After 7/13, Leo never ran under 3:39.39, and proceeded to finish 13th, 11th, 14th, 13th, and 13th in this track 1500 races the rest of the year not counting worlds where he did not make the final.
It is time to release the jinx from Leo.
Leo's password will be removed later today. Paula Radcliffe has had LRC passwords for much longer. We are going to remove those as well.
If you are a runner and would like a change of fortune and want a password named after you, post or email. Maybe they can help a runner not doing great do better.
