How in the heck is Cranny going maintain contact in a sub-4 race?
Yeah, I don't know whose idea this was but she's way over her head in this one. This is a WC final field.
Yea, who's the idiot who put Webb in the pre race in 2001? I mean putting a 3:59 pr guy in a WC final field with EL G, Sullivan and Lagat. I'm sure that turned out poorly for Webb! He had a pr 16 seconds slower than EL G, doesn't matter that there were a ton of other guys to feed off of.
You forgot WILL LEER is in the mile which he is gonna WIN.
Putting patriotic rah-rah aside, the real spectacles are
1) Aregawi vs Obiri and Kipyegon in the 1500
2) Merritt vs James vs Maslak in the 400
3) Will Jordan Hasay get lapped in the 2 mile?
All of this hate against Rupp.
Rupp has an Oly Silver. All the haters have is their pathetic peckers in their hands.

assuming Rupp is in the 10k and doesn't switch...
1. highly unlikely he breaks 26:48, or even 27:00 for that matter
2. he's ducking the real competition in the 5k
I don't see Rupp as ducking anything.
There are not too many good 10,000 m races in a season.
It's good to run this one since I doubt he will run the 10,000 at USATF.
There will be plenty of chances to face good competition in 5000 m races throughout the season.

IF the 10k is near as good as it was when Farah ran, it won't be ducking. Running under 27 isn't ducking anything. Besides there are 5ks all summer. I'm surprised Derrick isn't trying to get in, or maybe he is?
Chris Derrick stated in an interview earlier this year that he was hoping to be accepted into the 10k race at the Van Damme Memorial Diamond League meet in September.
So, Van Damme and I believe the Hengelo meet (or the meet where Ritz ran a 10k a few years back) coming up soon are the only invitationals hosting 10ks after the Pre meet.
The Commonwealth Games 10k may be the prime focus for many 10k specialists this summer.
So, not much to choose from.

Well if that's true that seems like more than most years. I could see Chris dabbling at 27:00 this year in a good 26:50ish race. He still has time though.
Kind of a melodramatic thread title for those developments.
Things that would suddenly make the Pre Meet Really, Really Interesting.
El G and Daniel Komen enter the 5k.
California Chrome in a 60 meter match race vs. Bolt.
Rupp, Hill, True, Lagat decide that the slowest runner will be sacrificed to the Moon.
Pistorius is entered in the 400 meters with two new bionic arms, both guns.
Thats classic women's racing for ya
you should write comedy

...and enter the leer bandwagon.
Realistically: he'll run midpack, get outkicked, and place the blame elsewhere.
Remember the world indoor final where he had that "special strategy?" DFL is what happens when leer tries to strategize.
