Yeah, what the hell did that mean? I think it means how he's a former DIII star now 3:52 miler ;)
I may delete that comment.
Rojo - I get that you're being sarcastic ...
But for those who may think a DIII runner cheated to run a 3:52, keep in mind he was one of the best DIII runners, winning the 1500 and 5000 in the same meet. Just because he's a DIII grad does not mean he should have faded into the sunset. At the time Will ran in college, he competed against another DIII superstar, Nick Symmonds.
One of the LetsRun hall of famers, Brian Sell, is also a DIII grad.
These guys were all excellent runners in DIII who continued to improve after graduation. They are the prime examples and I would readily admit that a DI runner has a better chance of a long pro career than a DIII runner, but still, DIII runners can make it and these are some examples. To say that Will Leer cheated or doped merely because of the times he has posted is ignorant.
Good points except that Sell ran at St. Francis, Pa. which is a D I school.

He looks like Si from Duck Dynasty but he acts like a hipster.

Yeah. Totally agree. Lomong and Lagat are leading the white distance-runner charge.
because it's not a major story
Gail Devers is clean?! HAHAHA

you attempt to divert from the big picture.
Is it wrong to say that among the sprinters there is an understanding that cheating is ok, that if you get caught you serve your time and then your name is clear?
Cause it sure seems that is the attitude. The sprinters made two dopers who served suspensions...national team coaches. They honor an outright cheater with the owens award.
Tyson gay was honored at a track meet...WHILE HE WAS SERVING A SUSPENSION. (not by usatf, but that's the attitude among sprinters)
Call me naive...but I think that's not going to happen in distance.
so call the divide between sprinters and distance or between black and white, but it comes down to the same thing.

Claims to have been stonewalled by Max and Drummond when he inquired as to why a drug cheat can get the Owens Award.
It probably has something to do with the rules and if you don't like a decision that is based on the rules, the obvious thing to do attempt to address the rules. And, until such time dopers are banned for life, once they have served their time, they can compete, coach, manage and of course receive awards.
Hey Will, make a USA team, then it's a big deal

My point that calling it a difference between black and white is simplistic, racist and wrong. I agree that the sprinter behavior/treatment is overt and offensive. Probably more honest, too.

No can do . . . much to warm to run 14:54 for 5000m . . .
good memory :)
Will Leer is a blowhard who needs a haircut and a shave.

Here's the logic:
1) Grossly excessive amounts of HGH cause various bodyparts, including the jaw, to grow.
2) People might use HGH as a PED in spite of its horrible side effects in large doses (and unproven benefits, I might add)
Therefore,
3) Anyone with a jaw line is an HGH doper.
Of course, all this is pretty stupid, as people using HGH are probably just using it as an anti-aging drug -- topping themselves up to physiological levels. In that case, there would be no jaw issues. At high levels, HGH actually makes your endurance worse.
The great thing about this accusation is that you don't have to put any thought into it. You don't have to do any kind of analysis, look at progression, anything like that. In fact, it's helpful to be clueless, thereby remaining ignorant of what acromegaly actually entails.

Also, I have never known Will Leer to duck talent. And having met him, he is an incredibly classy guy who is one of the few trying to create positive change in an organization that is so incredibly flawed, it has yet to explain what it's own DQ policies were 3 months ago at indoor nats. Good for him and it's too bad dozens others, like yourselves, are not lining up behind him.
as Rojo said, these are questions to which USATF ignores or refuses to provide an answer.
He's not classy he's an assclown. What you don't know about the story is he was an ass in that meeting, he didn't just "ask a question". Leer has and always will be a wanna be Pre tough guy who tries to make a big deal out of everything to get himself in the spotlight.
It's becoming increasingly clear that Leer is an attention whore. I mean come one he "sat" on this story for 3 months then decides to talk.
Probably planned they whole podcast and that's the best he could get.
Does he really not get what happened to Merritt? To say he's a drug cheat is pretty low of Leer. I doubt he'd have the onions to say it to Merrit's face because he is all talk no action leer.
l lost what little respect I had for Leer. He can be critical of the USATF, but to insinuate Merrit is the same as Gay or Gatlin or other drug cheats is just plain stupid.
He has to have the extenze follow him around for his life.

He kept pushing the point throughout the whole Meeting, and rightfully so. It's getting tiresome watching the powers-that-be at USATF turning a blind eye to dopers (even for a p-enis enlargement drug), probably because they doped back in the day (assume everyone else doped too). I'm willing to bet less of the distance runners dope vs. the sprinters.
By the way, why would a black man need to take a "p-enis enlargement drug"?? That makes no sense.
Good discussion about HGH and jaws. The Phelps pics are very compelling.
