gatlin is a doper
So you are telling me a person who dopes and runs 9.80 (picking random time) or even 3:26 in a 1500m. Once they get caught, take their 1-2 year suspension, that they go back to the same fitness as they were at before they started doping? (Given that the person isn't doping anymore)Once you have reached a certain level one can maintain that fitness and be able to get back to that form. For instance if a doper is running 10.000000000 in the 100m and they start doping and run 9.80. The body has adapted and even after a 2 year suspension if one keeps training they will be able to reach that level again or even surpass it because their body can reach those levels. Now what I think you are trying to say is that it give s you sharpness. Say the difference between 9.8 and 9.75. those type of benefits do only stay for a short period of time.

There is no proof of or reason to believe that. That Victor Conte says so means nothing to me.
Dope provides a short-term benefit at the expense of your long-term ability to produce endogenous hormones.
LOL!! No, just no.

I wish he was GOING
Gatlin always starts off the year well, and improves only marginally. In fact, he is incredibly consistent throughout the season, and because of it, tends to break down a bit later, usually necessitating some time off before, say, a major championship.
Don't look for a ton of improvement, just some minor polish.
Holy smokes he got a quick start
Windreading was bogus. According to my sources there was a big tailwind.
Also; if you look at his raceplan and angles...this was was it was...a 10.0 something run.
Nothing to get excited about, but nice for him he won...bad for the sport though.
WC 2015; american sprintteam and relays with 4 dopers and 2 doping coaches! That's a message to send to young kids.
You are 100% correct. I spoke with coach of an athlete in the race and it was a tailwind. Japanese known for botching this sort of stuff. Not as bad as Italy but not always on the up and up.
Gatlin will be lucky to run 9.95 on the super fast Shanghai track with a week's rest, too many on here bite on the fool's gold in 100 times every year like last year with Kiryu getting a BS wind reading in his 10.01 race.
if conditions are favorable i do think that Gatlin could go sub-10 in shanghai, i think the comment that he would be lucky to get 9.95 is pretty much right on
igf-1 lr3
gatlin what an absolute cheating liar.
sprinting dirty as nearly ever.
expect that near the peak cycle like last year
wait for the dip and afew loses in between next peak
later in summer
I don't see what the big deal is about Gatlin opening up in 10.02 into a -3.5m/s headwind. Unless we have forgotten, he dropped a 9.87 in Doha early in his 2012 outdoor campaign. So is it so hard to believe that he(drugged or not) could drop a time that converts to a 9.8lo???
This is isnt to say he is clean or not, but it's not like he ran a 9.6 converted
Great argument Ello-L. You brought so much insight

doha had a +0.4, making it 9.89, a far cry from the 9.78 I get on the calculator at
http://myweb.lmu.edu/jmureika/track/wind/
for his tokyo 10.02
.11 is huge
.11 is colossal when it is from 9.89 to 9.78
combined with the fact that Gatlin faded after 75m, it is VERY hard to believe--harder than to believe an inaccurate wind reading. MUCH harder.
no way in f'ing h he will run anywhere near 9.78 basic in Shanghai
and yes he's a massive doper
Another sprinter hater.. please. Last I checked doping has been revealed in every athletics discipline...Last major doping conviction was second fastest female marathon of all time.. so according to your advice I should look away from Marathons down to 60 meters.
You must be one of those people whom I meet at road races who don't know anything about the track? The great schism..

He's overstriding every step of the race after 25m; turnover is very slow, angles in hips and legs are totally off (is a typical gatlin problem, but this time its worse than last year)
Fact that Rodgers is withing 1 meter should tell enough; no freakin'way that a guy with his posture runs with a power sprinter like Gat against a 3.5 headwind.
So...just another 10.0x. But that just might cut it this season to earn yourself a big paycheck.
I love it when the LRC pseudo-biomechanicics experts swoop in to pick apart the form of elite sprinters.
