It's racism. Kimani should have won it, hands down. Kimani won the outdoor 5k, then CC district and SEC. So what if Cragg was higher at Nats.
Kimani did win the SEC and the south regional; cragg got second at SEC and won the south central regional and had a lot better national meet. it is up in the air, but don't the coaches in the SEC vote on that? Its not racism because Kimani is not a white guy. Cragg is a foreigner; does that mean that they are discriminating against the americans? based on your last quote that would be a fair assessment. . Thus, It has nothing to do with race.
thats a good play on words, they both race, racism, ha ha ha!!
Since Cragg is quite "white", then it couldn't be racism if Kimani was white, which he is of course not. So I don't understand your post. Perhaps it's too subtle for me.
This is to funny. You're a dork for thinking that. Does this have anything to do Cragg birthplace?
Kimani was 2-1 against Cragg. However, Cragg did get 2nd at NCAAs, which is what it's all about. Kimani was the better runner this year, but since he didn't beat Cragg at NCAAs, Cragg got the award. But hopefully we all realize that Kimani is the better XC runner, he's proven that over the last few years. But it's indoor time and we'll all see who is the best runner then. Remember, Cragg has NEVER beaten Kimani on a track in anything.
The article with the SEC awards is no longer up on the SEC website. Anyone know why?
It should say that "Cragg is Jorge's bitch".
What I meant by my post was that just because Kimani is black doesnt mean that the decision was a racist one or in a discriminating fashion. I was then using Cragg's nationality to prove the point that people are saying that that the decision dicriminates against americans or any other nation. Racism isnt an issue here, its that the opinions of the people voting thought Cragg performed better this year. Is it a right question? well, thats what we are here to dicuss and why this was posted in the first place.
Kimani doesn't even factor in.
Cragg is Jorge's bitch.
cragg was 8th at the european xc championships. he led about 1 and a half loops of the race in the middle, braving the stiffening head winds. he may have lost to jorge, but it was very close and it could have went both ways with jorge finishing second. cragg is for real and he can very well run 13:10 or faster some time down the road. jorge to will run under 13:10 maybe challenge the american record some day. they are both for real, let me leave it at that.
Kimani has already run 13:10.

Well then you can vote for him for SEC 5K track athlete of 2001-2002... but I believe we're discussing 2002 Cross Country. In that case, there should definitely be a huge emphasis on the National Championship. If Jorge loses to Cragg at a rinky-dinky dual meet (bear with me while I make an analogy), but beats him at Nationals - he's still the champion... right? It doesn't matter where you start, it matters where you finish. That said, Cragg finished much better than Kimani and, in my opinion, deserved that award.
Ok, jwaksman, you obviously didn't understand what I was saying. There was an earlier post talking about how Jorge and Cragg might run 13:10 some day, I was merely stating that Kimani has done that already. Where did I mention in that post? NOWHERE.

Sorry, I thought you agreed with the guy at the start of the post who assumed that race was the reason... No big deal.
