Wait a minute didn't Verzbicas run an awesome time in the 5k in high school of freshman year in college???
As far as I'm aware, McGorty hasn't jumped up too much in mileage. I raced against him in high school for 2 1/2 years and he's always been the king of distance. I believe he was running 65-70miles during his heaviest weeks in HS XC and 60-65 on average. I don't know his numbers in college, but my guess with a transition as smooth as his, is that his training went to somewhere around 75-80 during XC and 65ish for Track, depending on competition schedule. The kid is a huge talent and I predict an NCAA win in the 5K in 13:14 senior year. Also, definitely consider him to be in it for the 10K. With Cheserek in it, it'll always be tough, but McGorty has a lot of heart. I'd love to see him pull it all off.
He's kind of a jokester it sounds like as well. Who's the guy who talked about ice baths? I think it was a runner because only a runner would say that. Sam Wharton is a character as well. Those guys are characters and obviously it would be fun to have a chat with them off the course as well.

I really do think Saarel just had an off night.
I think he is much better than what he ran last night.
I do too, especially coming off that 7:52 3,000 and fresh 1,500 PR. Certainly, the expectations were high, maybe too high, after reading tht front page article about him and Wetmore's comments. Does anyone on the inside know what happened? Was Saarel just flat?

So the fastest junior times for 800, 1500, mile, and 3k are all from 1966.

Yes, he undoubtedly does but he's a sophomore in high school and has won only a single high-profile race. This thread is about collegiate athletes. He'll be in the NCAA soon enough.
Lol this quote is so funny now.
