Since "DopeMan" Boulami got busted, his 7:55 effort is suspect. If they strip it from him, who will own the record?

8:10 by some scrub.
As you name yourself "Kenyan Fan" I imagine you just assume that it should be a Kenyan record. Obviously their country has dominated the event for years and outside of Boulami, they own all of the best marks. I have no problem with that part of the thought process.
Here's my problem:
Boulami was busted for EPO. What other distance runners have been busted for it?
EPO was very much available when the fast Kenyans were breaking WRs in the steeple. A test for EPO was NOT available. So they can say they were clean, and you can say they were clean, but I guess we'll never know.
Another problem I have is with the people that say we should wipe all of the WRs off the boards and start fresh. That would be great if we were positive that no one could ever get away with cheating again. But EPO is still relatively difficult to get busted for with the current testing. Plus, there users as a whole are always going to be ahead of the testers.
And don't give me the crap about the noble, naive Kenyan who wouldn't even know what to do with performance enhancing drugs...that's tired.
Who knows what the non-drugged record is? At least 8:05, I suppose. I would like to see Boulami's 7:55 wiped off the books. Personally I wish that when someone is found guilty of a doping offense, ALL of their performances get wiped out of the official record and all-time best lists.
I agree. If they bust somebody and it sticks, remove any trace of their performances from the record books. Or better yet, include them at the bottom of all of their official results as in the following example:
Brahim Boulami, MOR DQ (Drug Cheat)
They might as well put it out there for people to continually see.
If you remove Boulami's times, the top steeple time is Bernard Barmasai's 7:55.72 in '97.

Yes the king is still BARMASAI.
What they should do is force him to return the prize money he'd collected in his career. He's guilty of fraud.
Probably a lot better than your spelling. How about steeplechase.
? (guess that's a case of the pot calling the kettle black...but I think forgetting the question mark at the end is a little more excusable than spelling steeplechase with two L's).
Who would win a steeplechase, Ritz or Webb?
It cannot be proven that he defrauded in meets by being on EPO in the past.
It is hard to write someone completely out of the books when there is a possibility that they are innocent. Also, just about every world record would have to come out of the books.
Do you really think that Geb ran 26:22 without being on something? 12:36 is just about 4:00 mile pace. He spanked Comen and who was dirtier than him.
I say bust what we catch, and what we don't catch: leave alone, unless you think the legit world record for 10k is around 26:50.

A little heavy on the presumptions ain't we?
At least learn to spell the athlete's names correctly.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
