Yeah, I think the only thing that hurts Centro here is that he was recently injured. But remember, Centro ran faster than all of the US guys in HS - showing his upside.
8:41 with a 2:00 last 1/2 mile...showing potential to run mid 8:30s if the race had presented itself.

Jerry is not going to develop Derrick's kick to anything near Galen's unless he changes his training philosophy/methods. Jager has mentioned before that he (Jager) does strides to improve his kick, with the goal of a good final steeple lap. If you think Rupp did only strides to get his blazing finish, you've hit the crack pipe one too many times. Alberto's proven method is to include raw speed development (=< 60m sprints), heavy liftings, and plyos. Jerry is too focused on volume to see this...
Have got to love how Anytime Mo is mentioned it is referring to Mo Farah, yet I don't recall Mo Ahmed being mentioned in this thread. The guy will be chasing PR's all summer now that he is about to finish his collegiate career this year. People do seem to forget that he ran 27:35 on this very track 2 years ago.

Tom Farrell is now running the 5K as well, expect a good run! He's had a solid 2014 so far running a 7.47 3K indoors and a 3.41 recently at Mt. SAC. Farrell has ran 13.26 (2011) and 13.15 (2012) in this meet, missing last years meet, so has always delivered the goods in Palo Alto. If I was to make a safe prediction I would say 13.12-13.19, but if all goes amazingly I could see Farrell running 13.03 - 13.07.

Oh heck no!!! Tom Farrell is running this? He's one of my favorite 5k runners! He was signed up for the Mt. Sac 5k and couple weeks back, his teammate said he was running it the day before, but I guess he couldn't pass up the chance to run in the blazing fast 5k, and it was proabably a chance to get in a couple more weeks of fitness... Based on my large post on my 5k predictions earlier, I might be biased, but I'm going to put him at that 13:05-13:10 range right by Centro... Seeing him run 13:15 a couple years ago was great, he's ran 3:41 3 times, and with a new 7:47 3k PR indoor and a 3:56 mile, he's ready to do some damage!!
