http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=10829868No. Running is a universal athletic movement, not ball throwing.
Throwing is way up there.
You run after the animal, you throw a stone or stick at it to kill it so you can eat. Running and throwing are the 2 most universal athletic movements.
I've seen better than Meb, but I've seen A LOT worse. Frankly, that's was about what I would hope for out of the guy if he didn't play any ball as a kid.
Adam Carolla's take on the first pitch (includes his two bad tosses):

wow - something "athletic" I'm pretty sure I can do better than Meb.

I went to a White Sox game where Kara Goucher threw the first pitch... geez.
Agree. The catcher caught it without it hitting the ground first, that's really all you can ask for.
This ^
Really wasn't bad at all. Not that any baseball teams will be recruiting him but it was ten times better than OP makes it sound.
Meb's first pitch was clearly fixed.

Watching the Yanks/Sox game and they showed highlights of Meb throwing out the first pitch. I totally love Meb, but someone in San Diego please teach him how to throw a baseball. Not helping with the "runners are unathletic" stereotype.
Geez man, like you'll ever even get the opportunity. I guess in the pantheon of first pitches, you'd have to put him between Bush and the more "athletic" Obama:
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GcSIwBWiPoUBush's pitch was pretty damn good!
Seriously; great threads like this remind me why I actually come to this website, with some great photos of ceremonial first pitches; politics aside, Bush won hands-down for best first pitch; a natural, as opposed to Obama, who looked like he had never thrown a baseball before.

We have a winner^
It is actually pretty difficult to get a ball across the plate if it has been a while since you threw a baseball. It is very easy to pound the ball into the dirt or spray it out to the side if you try to throw like a big leaguer. Add a ton of nerves on top of it, and I think Meb held his own quite nicely. Skied it a bit, but got it across the plate without a bounce.
Max Ashton nailed his first pitch ... and he's *blind*

Don't know how this is possible but almost funnier than his National Anthem performance.

I think Meb did fine, but Tyson took it to another level. Despite being awkward as hell and probably balking, Tyson threw a strike that broke in on the right-handed batter.
Just FYI, he couldn't have done that without Ryan Hall.
