I'm 17, having just graduated from High School... I am currently working full time at a scafolding company where I work 8:00 AM till 4:30 PM each day with a ½ lunch at noon...
I bike the 13 mile round trip each day in a cross-train attempt while I tend to my ankle injury...
I plan to attend university in fall 2003 and study music but also want to compete in xc and indoor track (the university has no outdoor program) for now I've decided to work into the fall of 2002 at least, then maybe go back to upgrade hs courses once I have enough money saved for a car, insurance, etc...
the problem is that once I get over my injury (hopefully later this month) and start to run again and build back for xc, I can't see where I will find the time...
I play piano at a very high level, I'm studying for my ARCT in performance... this requires 2-3 hrs of practise per day...
on the other hand, I need to work to make money- pay my piano teacher $55 each lesson, but new running shoes, clothing, misc... etc (fortunatley I live at home and pay no rent)
Some say I need to straighten out my priorities, but the way I feel, I cannot decide between music and running, each are equally important to me...
If I try to bring in running, where I want to be running 70-80 miles a week this fall and attend the ntl. jr meet, I cannot see how it will fit...
A possible sched. may look like this
7:15 wake, breakfast
7:35 leave for work
8:00-4:30 work
5:00 arrive home
5:00-7:00 training (mainly setady 8-15 mile runs)
7:00-8:00 shower, supper
8:00-10:00 Piano
10:00-11:00 read paper, relax, prepare lunch for next day
11:00 bed
With this sched, I would have virtually no time for a social life, I can practially see myself going crazy and being completley exhausted... I also have a hard time falling asleep, most weekdays I get only 7 hrs. or so (not enough for me)
but then again, if you want something badly enough, you will make the time for it...
I'm not trying to get anyone to feel sorry for me, thats the last thing I need, but rather I would appreciate any suggestions?
-thanks
