I pray that she is! But this is CRAZY fast! She isn't dropping anyone from that group. Why not tuck in behind someone for a few miles and give yourself a break. Doesn't this leading take its toll?

Yes. No need to expend unnecessary energy. Allow someone else to lead for a bit. Absolutely no reason to lead like this.
Shalane's tactic today is so much like Hall in 2011. It's going to be interesting when they hit the hills around mile 15.5. That's when Mosop and Mutai thanked Hall for rabbiting the race and went flying on up and over the hills.

hope they prove us wrong but this was expected. You have to hold back.
A group of women may have never gone out this fast but Joan Benoit did in 1983.
When she hit 10 miles in 51:xx a guy said to her "lady, you better watch it."
Hung on for a 2:22.

the BAA feed is not working in Denmark, such a shame-- this sport needs visibility...
In Spain it is not working either...

Men's race - HALL IS LEADING NOW!!!! GO USA!!!
This pace isn't "making everybody pay" . . . yet, it may make some pay, but all of these runners can run this far at this pace. We'll see how the pace makes people pay in at 20+ miles.
Hall is a Moron
A good day for South Africans without feet.
Daft Punk finished 2nd and 3rd in wheelchair.
20K splits
Shalane - 1:05:49 - 2:18:51 pace
Desi - 1:07:55 - 2:23:17 pace
Desi is currently 2:06 back. That's nearly a half mile back.
Am fairly new to the running scene, but could Jordan hasay be with the frontrunners? I hear so much about her. Could she win the marathon today? why is she not running today?

Pistorius in the race?
Shalane and Hall will both fade. It'll be Desi and Hartman.
Meb (and Boit) have gapped the field and is leading by 8 seconds at mile 8.
39:10 for mile 8 for men so 454.
I just have to agree with everyone who is saying how dumb the tactics of Shalane and Hall are. What is the difference between leading and sitting in the lead pack besides sponsor visibility? They are going to crash so hard between 15 and 17 miles.

Most of SF's track/road race wins are ones she's pretty much lead from the start. Either she'll blow up or she'll blow them all away.....
